Thanks for the update Rob! This is an important development.
I read some of the posts on that linked Bronco Sport page. Seems squealing brakes when in reverse is mentioned often, in addition to the longer braking distance which initiated the recall.
A side question: does the Maverick have...
The recent infotainment screen protector thread caused me to think of a possible glare issue.
I've seen in a few reviews (of the many I've read) where the it was mentioned the screen fades in bright sunlight due to being completely horizontal.
I test drove an XLT on a cloudy, rainy day prior...
I second this request. I have a Lariat ordered but am still somewhat undecided on the color. Your truck looks great in the exterior photo, but I imagine many future Lariat owners would like to see some pics of the interior with the painted door frame included.
I live in Elmhurst so hope to...
Interesting review! He walks around (and under) the vehicle pointing out how future servicing (and repairs) from a mechanics viewpoint. It was refreshing that he doesn't just rattle of specs like many reviewers, but makes comments on both good and bad points.
While I'll be getting a Hybrid I...
The acceleration of my inconspicuous AWD Rav4 V6. No turbo lag, just instant TQ to go.
But as I reach retirement age I use that much less, especially with gas prices rising. Buying a Hybrid and hoping to be entertained by trying to achieve MUCH higher MPGs.
I was amazed that Hybrid made it up and down the mountain. I will be hauling some firewood at my northern retreat but won't try hauling nearly as much, so it seems the FWD Hybrid is enough "work truck" for me.
With all the Hybrid videos it seems TFL is really focusing on what the outer limits...
Makes me go "HUH?"
I can't understand how the dealer could deliver to customer based on the OKTB info? I have a feeling the dealer is spreading some vaporware yarn, or that dealer will be in trouble with Ford.
I don't know specs for the Bronco Sport, but I have noticed in a few towing videos the reviewers mention all Mavs come with some type of trailer sway mitigation. I imagine its electronic but haven't seen any other details.
The longer wheelbase AND sway mitigation would raise the tow ratings...
I am amazed the Mav beat the Bronco! I need to re-calibrate my lifetime of thinking the much greater HP/TQ would win, but then again the Bronco is an off-road focused vehicle.
But geez, maybe I won't have to stay in the right/slow lanes once I get acclimated to the Hybrid's combined TQ curve.
GregS, thanks for taking time to provide a lengthy review.
I'm patiently (NOT) waiting for my Hybrid, but enjoy reading about all drivetrain configs to get a feel for the overall vehicle.
Hope you give us another update when you get a few more months into ownership...as I imagine I will still...
Sorry to hear this happened. It sux to have something like that happen so early with a new ride.
Since you got a First Edition that has the acoustic windshield, right? If there's any additional info from Ford/dealership on why it happened please keep us updated.
I think there will be some new versions (like Rattlers, STs, Platinum, or Hybrid AWD, etc) in the years ahead...all higher profit versions. Other manufacturers will jump in and Ford will want to add new wiz-bang versions of the Maverick to keep it relevant in the compact truck marketplace.
I...
Does the A51 have any metallic in it or is it just a solid color?
I haven't been able to view this color on any other Fords in person. The Velocity Blue doesn't mention metallic on their color chart, but I saw a VB Bronco at my local dealership and it is metallic. Wish the Mav color chart was...
I think the color of dirt in your given area of the country also influence preferences. Some areas have a more red soil, some have brown, some have mostly sand, etc.
In northern snow climates you have to also consider the dreadful gray/white salt "dirt" for 4~6 months of the year (ah yes, I...
Its not a Ford, but a friend had a rusted-out Subaru BRAT that I got to drive often in college (many many decades ago). That thing was scary as you could see the road passing by through holes in the floor, brakes were poor...and the steering was even worse!
And the reversed bed seats'...
In addition to The Weatherman's info on GM deleting heating steering wheels/seats from some models, the linked C&D article shares some much more expensive vehicles where features are being removed.
Other than changing some Maverick package specifications (ie the XLT Lux pkg now includes a...
The linked video is a generic Ford video on how the windshield wiper deicer works, couldn't find one specific to the Maverick.
I ordered a Lariat + Lux Pkg and hope that feature works. But it heats the windshield/blades so I don't know if it will help under the hood's trailing edge.
As a...
