Interesting - I wonder what the stud actually is then, imperial or metric? I did notice that my 5/16-18 nuts were not as free spinning as I would have thought they would be when I ran them on by hand.
18 TPI comes out to a thread spacing of 0.5556 in, whereas a 1.25mm pitch converts to 0.0492...
I recently had the same question that @dmopro answered for me. Use two nuts torqued in opposite directions to make a jam nut connection. It's a clever solution and since the currents should not be too high the risk of a loose connection is probably low.
I bought two zinc plated nuts to use...
Interesting... I have cleared codes a bunch in the past and thought I was emptying a temporary/transient cache, not clearing the vehicle history. Isn't there somewhere where the history is hard coded?
I know this is an old thread but wanted to ask you about the connection to the + terminal. I went to install my red lead and noticed the copper stud sits in a "well" of sheet metal that is deep enough to make seating the cable at the bottom difficult/impossible. I can't tell but it looks like...
When my battery got really low, I got the check engine light and the horrible limp/emergency mode where I could not get up to speed and drive normally (lots of threads on this). When I checked the codes the computer had thrown every code in the book and it made it look like the truck was toast...
I use an android app called CarScanner but there are several out there. I use it to reset codes on three of my vehicles (I have a evap leak on my Sienna that goes off every 3 tanks or so) and with the hybrid I use it to see real time stats on HV battery charge and SOC of charge on the crappy 12...
You beat me to it! I was going to suggest a kill-a-watt. You can plug it in to a house outlet and see both start-up and running amperage. Lots of things have the same drain for starting and running, but some things with motors have a big spike when starting. I think the outlet will just shut...
Do you have a link to the bulbs you used or did you just go to a brick and mortar store? Also did you have to "tell" the truck you changed the bulbs? I have heard that the computer sometimes gets picky if you change bulb type.
One complaint - not a deal breaker. The headlights offer little to NO illumination to the sides when driving at night. I guess I need to install some fog lights. My Sienna throws a nice bit of light so you can see if someone is stepping off a curb or if an animal is approaching fast from the...
Quite a bit of my driving is in traffic (Seattle area) so I am frequently breaking and don't really have a chance to coast unless I am out on the open road. Are you all still using slippery even in stop and go(ish) traffic? When I do I find I am engaging the friction brakes more often to avoid...
The supersizing they have done in the last few (or more) years really blows my mind! One of our driving games is looking at two vehicles 4-5 years apart and comparing sizes.
