Also, I am not sure if its related but I do notice the regen gauge maxes out in green when braking. The gas mileage is way better than it...

Totally with you! The mat does a great job keeping things from rolling around back there. It also protects what goes back there since the spray in bed liner is abrasive.

That's the Kuat. I have the same rack and its pretty sturdy even with 2 bikes. If you switch the tailgate cables to the upper posts and drop the cable behind the lower post, that will prevent the tailgate from hitting the rack when you open it.
