I think the defect is the manufacturing of the camshaft, which causes the bearings to fail and consequently the block to be punctured. Definitely a "yikes" recall. Ideally (or not?) They replace the mismanufactured part and the bearings. That's why I'm curious and nervous at what they're gonna...
I hadn't seen this, until this morning, so, I thought I'd share.

What do you think they're gonna do?
Ok....I highly recommend this. The ICE shutdown is noticably smoother. My Mav was built in March of '22. I'm not sure when this update started shipping in hybrids, but this was a significant improvement for my truck.
Actually, white looks cleaner for much longer than other colors. White makes the black body parts look way cooler. Also, white stays cooler in the Texas sun.
Had my PCM recall flash done today. Initial drive home impressions:
Gas shutdown/EV transition: seems smoother. Could be placebo, but didn't observe shudder. I had occasional shudder before.
Brakes: I had occasional grabby brakes. Brakes seemed normal.
Emissions at full speed: untested. 🤣
I'm scheduled for Saturday for PCM flash. 🤞
I'm more interested in what they're going to do for the other recall. Surely, they're not going to replace camshafts...
The maverick is really an Australian "ute" styled like a truck. It's f***ing brilliant and is, IMHO, the best value on the market....but it's totally a ute.
Gotcha. Seems like you made a good purchase for your uses, then. I wanted a road tire with max life. I don't care about off-road traction nor load. I'm in a hybrid, so I'm not gonna get close to defender 2 rating anyways.
I'm my experience, the heat plays a big part. Especially when the external temp gets above 107, or so. The battery doesn't get used because it can't charge/discharge safely at that temp.
I've also had certain gas make a big difference, too. It's possible that this is the primary culprit. Gas...
I think the rationale is that the tax on gas helps maintain the roads that we use. If you're not paying for gas, but still using the roads they're trying to make it up. Someplace.
I'm not saying it's right or wrong, just that that's the thought.
