Andrew1966 has given his observations on how to best avoid the droning / shudder:
"Mine does the exact same thing. Itāll decide to upshift when it was just fine at 15/1600 rpm yielding 11/1200 rpm and ālugā until you press down on the accelerator. VERY annoying. Shift sequence on acceleration...
Using the tow/haul was from my experience and suggestions posted in other threads. On the 4K, I was wondering if the lower gear ratio made a difference in the transmission performance. Nothing has come out from Ford regarding the Maverick but has for the Lincoln Corsair which uses the 8f35...
The f835 transmission shifting unreasonably to the highest gear does take away from a good ownership experience. I now use the tow/haul drive mode in town taking away the shuddering with revs.
In a perfect world, the Maverick would have shifting paddles or a way to keep in the gear desired...
In giving thought to the oil change of when, we need to remind ourselves not to compare port injection with direct injection engines that recycle what has not been burned up in the combustion stage back into the intake; used to blow out of the crankcase and because it longer does so, it gets...
Better explanation than mine, thanks. To catch the blow blow by and fuel dilution, I had installed Buscherās oil catch can because a lot of my driving are short trips and I intend to keep my Mav a long time.
The turbo's high spin and heat generated wears oil out quickly. I'm going every 3K just to be ahead of the chance of an oil related problem, cause I can easily see Ford saying the resulting damage being wear and tear. In short, cheap insurance.
My dealer has confirmed the to be installed air bags have been received with a scheduled install this Thursday. Received two letters, the oops letter and second advising calling your dealer to start process.
At first read I thought, no wayā¦.tried the 5 mph idea and it worked! I really like my Mav, but the transmission in traffic (save the 5mph idea) regrettably wants to lug, taking away a good part of the driving experience with the 2.0, awd, tow with 235/65/17 WildPeaks. Tow/haul works, but for...
I too have the vibration issue most prevalent at a steady 25 to 30 mph, my dealer has said there is no issue, so I use sport or tow/haul in traffic.
The only addition I can offer is when the vehicle is cold it shifts correctly, keeping rpmās higher at lower speeds. Once the vehicle is warm...
As is, I feel that Ford pulled off a Henry Ford; the Mav delivers more than I paid for. Change options, I would like Sport shifting much like in the 2016 Ford Escapeā¦.and options to upgrade the passenger seat to be like the drivers seat (in XLT and Lariat). Very happy I took the plunge in 2022...
Bad kimchi, no doubt.,..one good thing that Iām taking away from your post is Mavās are built to take rear end collisions. Glad your ok.
Hey Ford guy, anyway to help find another Mav for this guy, possibly totaled and still going down the road hating to say goodby says something about āBUILT...
For me, the 8f35 transmission in Normal and Eco mode upshifts way too early. Over time, I have found the Sport mode best in traffic because the Tow Haul is so much more aggressive when downshifting. When accelerating and the revs are to high, taking pressure off the gas pedal helps the...
