Current challenge is getting Forscan to recognize the Sync 4 APIM. I have an email into Forscan support asking about the issue. My guess is they just have to release an update to activate Sync 4 support in the Maverick. We shall see what they come back with.
So I figured I would go ahead and start this thread. @propp2531 and I have been working in the background on the potential of swapping Sync 4 into our trucks. Non Sync 3 Maverick systems present a challenge since an APIM does not actually exist as a separate module. The screen and software are...
So just a little tease of what @propp2531 and I have been working on….
Yes that is Sync 4.
Yes that is a Maverick XL that it is installed in.
No it is not fully functional, yet…. This was just the first boot/proof of concept. Next up is working on the As Built data to get everything functional.
Very interesting. I have NOT experienced that over the 200 or so miles I have driven since the change. Did you modify anything else in conjunction with the auto start stop change?
Now that we’re in the middle of winter my MPG has settled in around 24 MPG. So maybe a 1-2 MPG decrease from stock but nothing major.
There shouldn’t be any major differences with the hybrid that would prevent this same tire size from fitting.
My guess is that the Maverick was originally intended to get these things along with a 12" sync 4 unit (looking at you oddly placed cubby by screen...) but the chip shortage made them change directions... The Maverick was in final development when the chip shortage hit so it would have been easy...
You bastard.... Beat me to it!
Some vehicle mileage can be programmed through FORScan but unsure if the escape cluster is among the clusters supported. The fuel gauge issue can likely be solved through programming.
I guess I will have to resign myself to the fact that I will not be...
If you want sat radio, all you need is an ACM with a sat antenna connection. That said, something like that with an integrated APIM like what is in XL and XLTs doesn’t exist meaning you will need to swap in a Sync 3 APIM with a sat radio ready ACM.
Very surprised that this thing doesn't have an APIM.... With that said, the 54 pin APIM wiring is not magic... Everything that the APIM needs would be present in the XL and XLT. My guess is that the main connectors (J1 and J2 per the diagram) would be where someone could tap in and get...
With my evenly split city/highway driving I am still averaging around 25 +- 1 MPG which I am happy with. Didn't have the stock tires on long enough to know what they got!
No rubbing under any normal conditions from what I can tell. Road noise is increased but far from any annoying hum. From what I have read, the Falkens are the quietest “aggressive” AT you can get.
