  1. Real world has mileage and performance.

I get an average 39 MPG so far in mixed driving. AC always on. So looks like folks are consistently getting 38-43 MPG. Mileage like a Honda Civic or Honda Fit in a much more flexible vehicle, for similar money, that I don’t have to struggle to get in and out of. And it can pull any of my three...
  2. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

Op I agree. CU lumps all non-full sized trucks into one category. I suspect that will change as more compact trucks are introduced over time.
  3. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

Yeah, I really liked how the 1.5L engine revved on our 1991 Civic with the 5-speed manual when we had it. Those days are gone. And I only drive automatics now. The Maverick Hybrid CVT is super smooth and well-behaved.
  4. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

I get it. My hobby car is the 1973 Mustang shown, with the old 250 cu in six, biggest of the old ā€˜ā€œFalconā€ sixes. Eventually, I’ll replace it with a red 2017 Mustang V6 convertible, last year for the V6 Mustang.😃 Even Honda is going all-in with the turbocharged version of the 1.5L Fit engine...
  5. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

I agree it’s a good engine. Had a 2005 Odyssey for 200K miles with it. Was almost due for the second timing belt, but with the kids grown, traded it in for a Fit. Ody could only barely get 26 MPG at 65 MPH and averaged 17-18 MPG tops. My Maverick XL Hybrid gets better mileage than the Fit, and...
  6. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

Handles it just fine. It’s 1900 pounds boat, motor and trailer with a Yamaha 9.9, 13 foot in length. It’s little - an Apex Marine GillGetter. Got the last 13 footer they built last August. The Volvo C70 also pulled it fine. Never an issue launching or retrieving. Obviously would not work with...
  7. Is Carvana Broken?!?

Yup, used car prices are crashing through July. I got my Maverick on June 17 and had a hard time getting decent prices for the two cars I was selling. It's gotten worse as the month has progressed. I sold my 2013 Volvo C70 to a local European used car dealer for $11,500, after only getting...
  8. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

Yeah, I don't like the look either. The Maverick looks like a Ford truck and that's goodness in my book. The Ridgeline also still uses the Honda V-6, which gets comparatively lousy gas mileage and is one of the few gas engines produced that still uses a rubber timing belt. Plus the base cost...
  9. Thoughts on Drop in Bedliner?

I bought the Ford Drop-in Bedliner as an after delivery accessory from my dealer using my $210 in FordPass points toward it. Made it almost half-price. Put it in over an afternoon with help from a buddy. It looks great, as the cab section has both the Ford and Maverick logos. You can modify...
  10. Consumer Reports: Maverick Test Report updated to include Hybrid

I came across a Consumer Reports article on Hybrids to consider that included the Maverick Hybrid: https://www.consumerreports.org/hybrids-evs/hybrids-that-save-you-the-most-money-on-gasoline-a1199235608/ That made me think that the regular Maverick Test Report had been updated to include the...
  11. I think I have my 2023 order ready for August 2nd

Get the hitch/4-flat wiring. It’s the best value option available on a Maverick. Much more expensive to add later. To me, the sliding rear window is a waste of money, with modern AC. If something is too long, hang it out the back of the tailgate with a red flag. Donut spare is standard...
  12. I think I have my 2023 order ready for August 2nd

My son had his 2021 Ford Escape PHEV order roll over to 2022. He got it on 2/22/2022. So plan on Q1 2023 or even a bit longer, since his was built in Kentucky with pretty quick shipping to Ohio. My Maverick XL Hybrid took a year and two days for delivery. Ford has reported only about 53K US...
  13. Will there realistically be any difference between 2022 and 2023 build quality?

This same basic design is expected to be in production for 8 years. Get a 2029 if you want one with most of the bugs worked out. There are no perfect products, particularly cars and trucks. There’s always stuff.
  14. 2023 Maverick colors possibly revealed

It is. My son's 2021 Escape PHEV got rolled over to 2022 and he had to change the color from Velocity Blue to Atlas Blue. A little darker, but still a good color, My Maverick is Velocity Blue, but Atlas Blue would have been fine.
  15. How much is a 2023 Ford XL Base model Maverick?

Last time inflation was this high, automakers always split the next year increase into two, with about half on July 1 and the other half on next model year announcement, plus a significant destination charge increase. All is speculation until August 2, 2022, but my prediction for that date on a...
  16. šŸ“ˆ Maverick June 2022 Sales: 3,882 Sold / 7,539 Produced

Wow, only 3,882 delivered. That's like 1+ per dealer. My XL Hybrid was one of them. A year wait, but I'm feeling lucky I got it at all.
  17. Took delivery of XL Hybrid - thoughts

Thanks. I was the oddball thinking Ford might put the 1.5L EcoBoost 3-cyl in the Maverick. Glad the Hybrid is still the base drivetrain. Getting 40+ MPG so far. On the first tank still and up to 536 miles with an estimated 16 to go. Bed liner and cover installation got delayed until this week...
  18. My XL Side Mirror Upgrade (Spotter Glass)

I've found the Maverick to be as good as the boxy 1964 Chevy Impala 4-door sedan I learned to drive on. Also, compared to my three convertibles, the Maverick is like a bubble car as far as visibility goes. I guess it's all relative.
