It does nothing FOR you pulling.
Not more torque.
Not more "power".
Not more rpms.
No reduction in effective gear ratio.
Not more ability to pull something uphill. In a 2022 hybrid. Going to be the same in 2023 and 2024.
Can't speak about 2025 or 2026 but it's likely the same.
Does that...
I did it. Got me one. Like it so far.
Zero wind noise at any speed up to 80 mph tested.
No drop in MPG measurable and if you read my posts you know I measure very closely.
Aero drag is negligible.
4 pins you have are 4 of the same wires in the 7-pin.
The fifth (usually blue) is power, variable voltage from the aftermarket brake controller of your choice.
That's all you NEED. I did that the first couple of years.
Pin 6 is only for reverse lamps on the trailer. Most trailers don't have...
It's as if you passing them highlights they were going slow due to daydreaming and you remind them to speed up. 🤷🏻♂️
Why do four friends walking a path tend to walk in lock-step?
Unconscious conformity?
This hybrid likes it hot.
Highest MPG will come in the warmest weather you can stand without turning on the A/C.
I peak out at about 87°F to 89°F and windows down.
Then I gotta use the air conditioner.
700 miles per tank, pretty common for me, in warm weather with no A/C. 800 miles per tank...
Because if it said "F" everyone and their uncle would be asking why they put an "F" there and would be suggesting they label it "D" like every other car.
"L" is for braking. Slowing. It does nothing for you when going. Back in the original hybrids they appropriately labeled it "B". And people...
There's a whole other thread about big gains from slowing down, even just a little gives big results. Wind resistance is a bigger factor than lots of people believe.
50 MPG (700 mile tank) at 55 MPH.
Way less, like half that at 80 MPH.
Sure it can. But I know in general they don't.
Final product diesel is moved by diesel burning trucks. Most final product gasoline is moved by diesel burning trucks.
Most ethanol is moved BY RAIL.
A national ad campaign by CSX said a ton ( approx 285 gallons ) of ethanol is transported 400...
Good thing it costs nothing to ship pump and refine oil from Alaska or the middle east or the North Sea. Good thing no wars are fought over oil. Good thing no lives are lost over oil.
How many wars have been fought over ethanol? I forgot.
How many beaches have been closed from ethanol spills?
Corn planting over the last 100 years.
1925 to 2025
Ethanol changed very little.
In 2019 14% of US corn went into ethanol. 54% of US corn was exported.
There was 10% to 15% fewer acres of corn planted in the 2020's than the 1940's.
Small engines, in general do better on plain gas yes. Ethanol runs better with a host of electronic controls and complex fuel injection that simple, small engines don't have.
Oil gets more subsidies by muti-fold than ethanol. See any middle east news lately? Refining ethanol is multi-fold more efficient than refining crude into gasoline.
Thanks for the message.
I find it odd that so many people are scared of 10, 15, or 20 mph collisions that almost never happen.
You're going 55.
Next guy is going 70 in the same direction.
That's an approach speed of 15 MPH.
On a road with multiple lanes with room to go around.
Not scary to me.
