That was the plan. Being that I want to camp for free, I need to be a little further "out there" away from extra conveniences most people pay for. I think I am pretty prepared but I will learn more as I burn through some miles. Thank you
I'll keep that in mind. I have family in Oklahoma and wanted to maybe hit Denver or Colorado Springs if I went that far north. That by itself takes me around west Texas without even trying to avoid it. I know Texas has BLM areas that offer free camping. I'll keep an eye out. Thank You
I think around 300-350. All depends on how efficient you want to be with your pieces and how many spare nuts and bolts you want. The extrusions themselves aren't that expensive. I used 1x2 inch extrusions but 1x1 could be had for lighter and cheaper
Short answer it doesn't. Long answer, I removed the plastic trim piece in that side under the seat to make more space. I then had to trim the mounting points on the short ends of the battery to allow it to sit all the way down into into the original battery spot just barely. Then the original...
The rack is made with extruded aluminum. Designed and bolted together myself, ordered precut pieces from TNUTZ. But you can get extruded aluminum from a lot of places. Look at my profile and I have some closer pictures in another thread. Not a plug and play thing, needs some fab work
That looks dope. I briefly thought about it in the early days of preparing but I liked the openness to reach different places in the bed. I have the cover and then most things are also in water resistant cases. Double protection is good enough for me. Your rack looks slick though, what did you...
Plan on going to the large cities for a little bit. Haven't lived in a large city so I want to give it a shot for a little bit. I like trying new things
I think the plan is to west all the way to southern California to visit some places there then head north. I have never made a trip like this but I think I will miss a lot of the passes instead of cutting through diagonally. My tires are triple peak snow rated which will help a little bit. But...
Thank you. I plan on hitting Austin then going north to Oklahoma then west to Denver to mostly skip west Texas. I hear it’s a real drag driving through there
Unfortunately I can't control when my lease is up so now is when I leave. Not my first time in the snow, born in Alaska and grew up in Iowa. Nothing new to me. I am actually excited for snow since its been almost 5 years since I've seen it
I am moving/taking a road trip from Florida to the PNW. I plan on spending about a month primitive camping and hopping from one national park to another. I have this fully loaded right at 5100 lbs. Last weigh in showed 2280 lbs on front and 2820 rear. I moved some weight from the back to the...
Of Course! I probably saw the same idea from the Tacoma thread because I remember seeing something there while learning about it.
I thought about using the brackets but I think custom pieces would be needed to be made either way, unless you planned to use the bolts that come with the cleats but...
For those of you with bed rack, how much vibration is normal? I notice small shakes and vibrations over bumps and at highway speeds. Everything is still tight and shakes the whole truck when I move it. I think it might be a little flex in the elevate rails and if some adhesive between the...
Do you feel like the frontal area had a signficant impact? would you feel like it would be easier with a v nose or slightly shorter trailer but similar weight?
