Soft shackles alone won’t work. There’s no secondary hole to loop them through. Even if there was, the soft shackles would be cut by the edges of the metal. It isn’t rounded enough for that
You can buy them from Amazon or if you want something more reputable, towing sites have them for higher prices. The key is to search for towing hooks not recovery hooks. And as the other guy said, don’t get just the R shape, get the J or T shape or a cluster of them all. I recommend getting it...
Small correction, I apologize. I have a 5/8 and 3/4. Just double checked the sizes. But my point still stands that the 3/4 is almost doesn't stretch and anything bigger is basically a tow strap without stretch.
As I said, I've used the ropes. I understand what the manufacture recommends but I am thoroughly convinced they oversize either to make you buy a more expensive rope or to prevent ropes from breaking. I started with a 7/8 then got a 3/4 then bought the 1/2 5/8. I sold the 7/8 because it wouldn't...
As maybe the only person who is in this thread who actually has those and have used them to get my maverick unstuck, I can add some input, use it as you will. The R hook does not work correctly, the J hook works but will fall out if slack is in the line. The T shaped one in the middle is the...
For anyone following along still, no updates from Ford corporate or any dealership. I have notifications on for a CV axle through CarID and that came in stock briefly yesterday. I presume I am not the only one waiting. It is a third party part though. I called a ford dealer and asked about the...
I remember watching one of your earlier videos with just the framing, I think. You are the perfect amount of mad genius. I thought about doing something similiar but instead, I am looking into an old military s250g shelter with light weight trailer frame. Should be about 1000 lbs with shelter...
Ford Rep on here made me a case number and said she would escalate it to the truck team who will contact me and a dealership near where I will be in Louisiana. I was not given any sort of timeline
Thank you for the invite! I don't care about a recall as long as they can fix it and honor the warranty. But if they can't even fix the ones that have gone wrong so far, I don't expect them to have enough parts to recall and replace a significant large portion of the trucks. I suppose we could...
I have seen a few threads of people saying they failed. There is a guy on youtube who uploaded his whole experience with it going bad with like 3 videos. It seems like it would be a more common problem if they can't get enough made to meet the demand for people needing replacements without a...
I haven’t found a way to resolve it. I called Lakeland ford to get shipping timeline and they said they didn’t have one and if I ordered in the site, they would cancel. Idk why the site would let me order if they would cancel. Seems like an easy way to upset people
That should help with coordinating between dealers. Is the control # the same as the R/O # on my paperwork from the dealer? Also do you have a recommended number at ford to call? I'll google it if you don't
Running back into the issue with waiting. New information though, I called Lakeland ford to see how soon they could ship it. On the website it shows available but the person said that it is on a nationwide back order and they would have just cancelled my order if I placed one :cautious:. I asked...
They said they couldn't order it from Lakeland Ford in florida, they could if it was closer but thats "too far". I asked if I order it, could they install it with the labor under warranty and he said no because that "doesn't follow specific procedures"
Guess I am buying it out of pocket and...
I drive a lot, hence the 33k miles since I got it in April. I would rather not leave this, just in the next month, I plan on driving from oklahoma to florida then back towards louisiana. That is a lot to have a wearing CV axle. and being that it is vibrating, that creates extra wear on that part...
That goes into what silver said about a dealer not wanting to put on a part that they didn't sell me. I've never had a vehicle new enough to have a warranty so I am not sure exactly how that works
