After almost 2 yrs, my daughter used it for the first time for her laptop: college homework on the 3-hr ride home for Christmas break. It worked great.
I have the one with muffler. All the online vids showed exterior results. Honestly, it sounds good on the outside. It's not raspy nor farty. I'm old (50s), but the interior noise is bad --even under normal acceleration. I've had numerous Magnaflows on V8s, and even an older 2.0 4-banger...
I also tapped my front signals behind the climate controls. I cut the connections, and used M/F quickconnects. My amp is powering the front door speakers + sub. Guarantee those rear 4" speakers aren't seeing a full-range signal. They can't handle low frequencies.
I honestly didn't measure. The roof of the topper is fairly even with the cab height. Subtract a few inches for the thickness of the topper. I probably won't have it on again until the end of April.
I did not. I haven't heard of them until today. Looks like a neat design. However, the concept looks to be very similar to the Soft Topper. I didn't want any frame, etc. to remain in the truck bed. The Flated Topper completely removes in a couple of minutes, and stores in a large backpack...
A roll-up would need to be removed. That's also why I switched from a roll-up, to a tri-fold. The Gator soft-fold (or similar) can be removed and installed in < 5min. There are lots of youtube reviews on the Flated topper. Everyone seems to really like them. One Maverick dude flipped it over...
Some (like the Extang Solid Fold) are Thermoplastic. The (very) thin aluminum ones do not stand up well to small hail. I always see tons of them on Marketplace -- with dents all over.
For me, the Flated Topper (@FLATED Guy) is as handy as sliced bread. The first time I saw this, I thought it would be perfect for my needs. I wanted something temporary, portable, and easy to switch back to a regular tonneau cover when not needed. The Soft Topper did not fit that criteria. I...
I used an LOC that has the REM for the Amp. It's a simple passive Kicker LOC -- which turns on with speaker signal. This probably wouldn't work with B&O though. Are you only adding a sub? You may need some sort of active LOC -- which would also have REM built-in.
Thanks all. I'm sure I'll keep the Gator. It's not "bad" or anything. I just prefer the vinyl and appearance of the Truxedo. I really like how quick and easy it is to fold up.
I just wanted to throw this out there, in case anyone is trying to pick a tonneau cover. I had the Ford accessory soft roll-up tonneau cover (Truxedo) for about 16 months/15k miles. I had no problems with it. It did leak at the front bulkhead when washing the Maverick, but remained dry when...
