" ... Is it to the point where one would say getting a hybrid is a problem vehicle? .... "
Rather, I'd say it's to the point that it's a problem getting a hybrid vehicle!
Cautionary Tale:
My original reservation stipulated Alto Blue. However, since I retired 10-years ago, I sought 'buy-in' (literally) from my still working wife ... "Area 51?" sure Dear, I'll change the order!
Upshot:
Wife drives the Maverick 7-days a week, and I'm stuck with that stinking...
I didn't want to complicate my dealership experience by adding the trade-in component ... and I didn't believe any offer would pencil out regardless. So after taking possession of the Maverick, I sold my 1999 Ranger XLT to a private party using "TRED," for about $2,300.00 more than the Carmax...
I am willing to get a second battery tender at some point, (1st one is on the Indian Chief) but the 'Ole Ball & Chain has commandeered the Maverick Hybrid for 7-days per week use, so not a current option ... (nor should it be a requirement for problem free reliability, IMO)
Anyway, I should...
Did I have any luck? ... well, sort of ...
After the two weeks at the dealer, their pronouncement was, " ... (the scores of deep sleep messages) ... were due to the 'aftermarket' BlackVue DR900X-2CH Plus dash cam ...."
I have made these observations since getting the truck back: 1) the...
My sentiments (almost) exactly! Had my '99 Ranger XLT Supercab, 4-cyl, manual for ~21 years ... but when I first learned about the Maverick, I realized Ford remembered who I was! Ordered the Maverick without hesitation ... sent that reliable Ranger off with a nice young couple about 3-weeks...
9-service center working days in: apparently battery not replaced, but charged ... and BMS sensor replaced ... so now awaiting "30-mile drive and overnight period" prior to re-check of charge ... (so, after the weekend)
Oh, & latest software updates, too ...
Kinda' like to get my truck back...
I accept your above contention re: service quality prima facie ... however, it would seem that 'warranty work' preformed by the dealerships are essentially constrained by the manufacture's subsidy of approved diagnostic protocols relative to customer complaint ... suggesting that to exceed those...
the equanimity of your reasoning is attractive ... what concerns me is that my experience with the dealer's handling of the Deep Sleep issue, the better part of a year later, seems to be starting at square one ...
My Hybrid XLT with ~3.7K miles has been at the dealers for over a week; they're looking into scores of Deep Sleep messages over the past month+. Yesterday's report: Battery charged, ... (did he tell me to 90+ % ?) ... but discharged by over 30% by the next afternoon ...
I am grateful to the folks at Harris Ford for keeping their word about selling my Maverick to me at MSRP when it arrived at the dealer's in May ... (ordered in July 2021 and it was only a verbal agreement!) ... they accepted my Farm Bureau certificate as well, (I met all conditions for use) ...
me too, currently at the dealer, hoping for word this evening
update: just heard from the dealer, they will start with 12 volt battery replacement, (per what is implied is Ford's measured protocol for my case i.e. dozens of deep sleep messages after 3K miles on Hybrid XLT built ~4/8/22, one...
... at ~3.5K miles on our Hybrid XLT, we're getting more than we expected in all areas of performance ... and particularly regarding the cumulative 42.1 mpg ... so, still very happy ....
