  1. What did your maverick replace?

A 2019 Ford Fusion. It was a great car. I just realized I needed a bed and some towing.
  2. Do ALL FX4 Mavericks not come with the AWD Tailgate Letters?

My '22 FX4 has the AWD badge on the tailgate.
  3. My theory of Mavericks getting rear ended

The girl that rear ended me (after only a few weeks owning it) was texting..... at night..... in the rain. She looked up at the last second and hit the brakes which greatly reduced the impact. This was coming up to a stop sign as well, so the slowdown should not have been unexpected. I think...
  4. Another one down - 2023 Maverick Lariat rear-ended and totaled

Ah, I just needed to look harder. Thank you. I emailed Mohr Manuf to see if they will provide the report from that testing. I might contact MGA as well. I'm curious as to the results, and if they measured G's inside the vehicle.
  5. Another one down - 2023 Maverick Lariat rear-ended and totaled

Where did you find the information about testing from MGA? I couldn't find anything on their site.
  6. Another one down - 2023 Maverick Lariat rear-ended and totaled

The "sparebumper" actually has internal and external "shock absorption". Some of the force goes into deforming and heating them up. I have one on my Mav. after being rear ended at a stop sign ($1500 in damage). It was the product reviews with accident scene photos that sold me more than the...
  7. Fire Extinguisher (In-truck)?

I suspect that thermal cycling is what the concern would be with a fire extinguisher kept inside the vehicle. Bringing it up to 120 and then back down to 70 over and over could cause the chemicals to degrade and the pressure vessel to fatigue. Same is true for ammo, btw (another topic...
  8. Uneven/Abrupt Acceleration and Throttle Response

This sounds like mine as well. It feels like a computer is thinking too long before deciding to accelerate the truck (ECU or TCM). I imagine the old windows sand timer spinning on the screen when I hit the gas sometimes.
  9. Idaho FS: Cobb Accessport $300

Did you go back to "factory" tune or are you keeping a COBB Map on it? Just curious as to why you're selling.
  10. Uneven/Abrupt Acceleration and Throttle Response

I have the exact same issue, and it's almost cost me an accident or two (making a left turn with traffic coming and the truck barely moves for half a second or so). I swear it got much worse after the recall that reprogrammed something. I think it was powertrain.
  11. Wheel Lock "Goldilocks" -- McGard vs Gorilla

Those are very interesting. The concept of "tumbler" rings is novel. I couldn't find a set for the Maverick, but I wonder if the escape would work. I'm going to contact them. I have the "factory" wheel locks and, like the OP, am disappointed in them. The video below all but proves they...
  12. Second catch can drain (worse than the first)

Oil was thin and black, no chunks (typical used oil). I use Motorcraft full synth 5w30 and the Motorcraft filter the manual spec's. No additives at all. I'm wondering if it's the media from the can itself breaking down. It almost looks rusty to me.
  13. Second catch can drain (worse than the first)

Technically that was 7k worth of buildup. I emptied first at 6k oil change.
  14. Second catch can drain (worse than the first)

'22 Lariat, 2.0 Ecoboost. I just emptied my catch can for the second time at ~13k miles during oil change. The last empty was at ~6k miles. First drain at 6k oil change on the left, second drain at 13k on the right. A lot more nasty stuff. Deeper red color (rust?) and more sludge...
  15. 2nd oil change at 9782 miles, and some thoughts

As a 2.0EB AWD owner that changes my own oil, I get where you're coming from. We like to do it ourselves more because we enjoy it, and don't trust strangers (IMO). I've had some bad experiences at dealerships and mechanics (no filter change, leaking drain plug, loose lug nuts after rotation)...
  16. Lower Octane Fuel

I see now that you have a hybrid. You will definitely not benefit from using premium at all. Hybrids use a naturally aspirated, port injected Atkinson engine. OP has an Ecoboost, which will see slightly improved performance and MPG, per Ford engineers and the laws of Thermodynamics.
  17. Lower Octane Fuel

The Ford manual for my 1.5L Ecoboost Fusion literally says it will retard the timing if you use 87, which results in a slight loss of power and mpg. While the Maverick manual does not explicitly state this, it is also a direct injection Ecoboost engine. Did the ford engineers put that in the...
  18. Lower Octane Fuel

As many others have said, 87 is fine. Premium will slightly increase HP and Fuel economy due to optimal ignition timing. The computer will retard the timing to account for premature detonation of lower octane fuel.
