I have upgraded my B&O system front speakers to the Morel components. So far just the door speakers and doing the tweeters next. I have wondered myself if a resistor on the center channel speaker would pull it down some? Seems like the assignment of frequency and volume would be in the head unit...
So thank you to Colin for the recommendation of the 8” Alpine sub and box design. I modified the box dimensions a little without losing any internal net volume with it being 14.5 x 11 x 6.5. After lining the metal tub with carpet and having the box 11” wide, it basically fills the tub width so...
Decided to carpet the metal tub. Not a perfect job but looks a little better than the unfinished metal. I think it will also help dampen any possible rattles in the area.
So I must say I neglected to consider the limitations of a hybrid system in supporting additional amplifiers. Has anybody gone past the Crutchfield recommended max of 30 amps current draw? Most decent subwoofer amplifiers go past that by themselves. I wanted to add 2 class D amplifiers one for a...
Yes I won’t be using the factory speakers with their cheap integrated caps in there to crossover. So for now I plan to use the B&O amp outputs which those 5 channels being the doors, the dash tweeters, and the sub to a LOC then to a separate 4 channel amp with adjustable crossovers built in...
It’s definitely worse with the surround sound on so I don’t use it anymore. Still hear the center with a strong midrange peak. I backed off the mid in the tone control and it was better.
Thought about it but want to use the actual factory tweeter wiring harness because I’ll be bi-amping so extending those into the door panels would be a bit involved. I’ve got to take the pillar covers off to get to the tweeters anyway so when I have them off I’ll be able to tell if it’s possible.
So since the soundstage gets drowned by the center channel in the B&O system I’m considering the possibility of mounting the tweeters in the A pillars. However, careful placement would be necessary to avoid compromising the air bags that are behind the covers. Has anyone done this yet ? I would...
I’ll let everybody know once I get it hooked up. I won't go cheap on the main amp. I normally use JL amps. I don’t need the digital processing of the Key amps because I will tune it to my ears. Key 4 channel amps are sold out right now everywhere except maybe eBay.
Colin I went with the Alpine woofer you did and found a deal I had to take a chance on. It was a bundle from Amazon for the Alpine woofer with a Harmony 400 watt 1 ohm stable amp with sub remote for the price of the Alpine woofer by itself $249. Check it out. Alpine / Amp combo . The worst that...
Well it’s intriguing to know there is a way to accomplish eliminating the the B&O amp and feeding your amps a clean signal but of course it comes at a cost. I think I will start with the LOCs and see how livable the result is running using the B&O amp outputs. I’m hoping by using quality...
Ok WoW that changes things dramatically. I don’t think it’s a good idea to mess with digitally controlled components. I was trying to get to a clean preamp source to avoid the grunge and possible noise from using high level outputs converted to low. Also trying to fit 2 amps in the space is a...
Does anybody know where I can find the wiring diagram to the harness that feeds the input to the B&O amp? I’d like to create preamp connections before the amp to wire to upgrade amplifiers.
Okay so first impression of B&O system and I’m in agreement with other members. It’s a bit better than the lower trims but not over the top. First thing that stands out is that strong center channel sound stage that seems to take away from the overall separation of sound. Then in general the...
So on the Alpine sub did you have to buy the grille cover separately ? Did you have 2 speaker wire jacks or one installed on your box ? When you tapped into the B&O sub wire did you hardwire into it or did you buy a matching connector and plug into the existing wire ? Great job on the install...
