I never got a definitive answer on that. I think that it was something to do with a software update and reset of the battery management control system.
I had a recurring deep sleep problem with my Maverick hybrid and I when it was apparent the dealer mechanics could not figure it out, I wrote a letter to customer service and explained my situation and they took care of it. They organized a meeting of the mechanics and Ford Engineers going as...
I got a screw in my tire at around 6000 miles and took it to discount tire. They repaired the tire and put away my spare and didn’t charge anything. Good service.
Want something simple to work on? Get a 1970's Maverick. There are some out there in nice condition for less than $10,000 and they are easy to work on. Just a thought.
I think it can be different things, but with mine they never really gave me an exact reason. What they did explain made me suspect the battery management system and maybe not resetting properly.
If you want to get it fixed, write to ford customer service at Ford Motor Company, Customer Relationship Center, P.O. Box 6248, Dearborn, MI 48126. Not an email but a typed letter. This is a problem that needs to be diagnosed by the engineers at Ford. A mailed letter will get their attention. It...
I was having the same problems with my 23 hybrid and I wrote Ford customer service a letter describing my problem in detail. I did not right it in anger but was asking their help to contact my dealer and get someone to help them diagnose the problem. They did, and my problem is gone.

Love the cloth seats in the Maverick. They are comfortable and durable. My first Maverick (1973) had hard vinyl seats that burned your legs in the summer and froze your ass in the winter. They cleaned up easy but they were terrible.
I have a Truxedo CT Sentry hard rolling cover. I like it because the canvas cover looks neat, clean and it is easy to roll. It only partially blocks the back window so you can still see behind you. If you need to take it off for any reason it has quick release pull tabs. It also holds a bit of...
I didn't have much choice since my DC\DC converter had gone bad. As far as disconnecting the battery, I'm afraid to touch it and risk the deep sleep problem. That reset seems to be a problem for some.
I had mine dolly towed for about 140 miles and there were no problems. The truck did throw some alerts about the ABS but that was sorted out when the truck was started and driven. I think the back wheels turning while the front ones were still confused the computer.
