I would have seriously considered a Hybrid Lobo if it were available. Getting 25 to 30 mpg around town would be nice (My Lobo gets me 20).
Sport suspension, manual paddle shifting, amplified Atkinson growl through the bass speakers. Torque Vectoring RDU (possible?).
But the added hassle of...
Exactly. The 4K Tow Package does not add more POWER to the Hybrid - only adds more stress on the eCVT if you do tow 4K.
The eCVT is another reason I chose the EB…
That said, I can understand why folks do chose the Maverick Hybrid. Great truck. A “no-brainer” for many.
3 things:
1) lowest possible tailgate
2) paddle shifters
3) ICE powertrain
The sport suspension was icing on the cake coming from a “hot hatch” trade in. Would have bought an XL or XLT if they had paddle shifters - but in hindsight glad they didn’t. Really glad I bought the base Lobo.
90% short 5 miles trips is brutally severe driving for an EB. Hopefully you have changed your oil 6 or so times in the 3 years of ownership?
Also, if the other 10% isn’t “Italian Tuneups” - start doing those and watch your mpg’s nudge upward!
Most towns have a window tinting or wrap shop that will install a “windshield brow” on your windshield interior for less than $49
Maverick specific DIY kits are probably available for <$40. Anyway, I visited my local shop in my first week of ownership to install brow. I live in a top 3 sunny...
Consistently using top tier 91 octane will get you 1-2mpg increase - but maybe not if it makes your foot heavier.
And the added cost will not justify the change. But if you’re only concerned with mpg (not cost) - it might get you a little extra mpg.
Your heavy foot is at the root of your...
I find the stickers unattractive. Also, they reflect photons instead of absorbing them like my matte black felt tape - reducing glare.
Although the most unattractive part is when I lift the covered safety stickers to expose the mirror. Still need to apply felt tape there!
4 to 4 and a half quarts is what I’m expecting - thanks for your data point!
I plan to refill cold the exact same amount I drain cold. Not going to mess with the “overflow” hole since my truck will be on ramps & not completely level anyway.
Cleaner & easier that way for sure. Going to assume...
I’m almost there too. Need to pop a couple advil before getting under the Maverick to change my oil/filter etc - but I still end up aching afterwards!
Here is a pic of the transmission fluid filter in the hybrid. It is bolted to the fluid pump inside the eCVT. Can’t replace without eCVT removal & disassembly. Meant to outlast the eCVT. With old dirty fluid, however, it may wear out a few weeks before the eCVT croaks:)
Edit - picture from...
It will take me 30 minutes just to jack my truck & remove the the 15 cover screws:)
Is there a trick to the refill? I hear the 4-5 quarts pour in really slow.
Including breaks - I plan on a 3 hour DIY job. I pay myself by the hour so no need for me to rush. Paid breaks too. I’m a great boss!
Here is a pic of the filter in our 8F35 transmissions. Requires removal of transmission and then disassembly to replace. Going to drain & fill my transmission fluid DIY often since that filter has to last a lifetime!
I’m hovering around 20mpg on my 25 Lobo. 2K miles on odo & 11 months on calendar.
I use Sport Mode with “M” (manual) button pushed in and use my paddles. 50% City, 45% Country, 5% Italian Tuneup Freeway trips.
Gas Station Franchisees risk losing their station license if caught using “counterfeit” gas. Scientific analysis is performed by “corporate” through occasional audits.
It is possible, however, to cheat and betray our sacred trust. What else, my Big Mac patty is counterfeit?
I would use 87 if I had a hybrid - 91 not worth the added expense. Defeats the purpose of having a hybrid I think. I would use Top Tier like you do though.
