I am going to step in here and say that direct injection, while good for EPA numbers, has proven to be a maintenance nightmare. I am very happy, that my '23 does NOT have that. Do a little research and see if I am crazy or not??? PS I am assuming that those mentioning port injection actually...
That was the case years ago, before the EPA took over the requirements for manufacturers to specify their oil requirements. Virtually all passenger cars currently (and for the last 10 or so years) all have requirements for 20W oil in the US. But the same cars/engines in other parts of the...
I have a '23, among the last before the '24 began its run. I travel a lot, leaving the truck for a week or 2 and yet have not had any problems at all with the stock setup. What could be the reason?
That may be true, although 0W-30 would be preferred for a hybrid. But by the same token maybe 0W-8 would even give higher efficiency, you could try that in your experiments.
Absolutely you are entitled to use whatever you prefer. As to "tolerances were always tight" well there is a world of difference between "tolerances" and clearances. Clearance is one spec, of several, that will determine the proper weight of an oil.
"OP is ignorant on hybrid........."
Wow, did you get your information from God, or maybe Ford himself? Very pejorative comment, there is enough in this forum already. HTHS is a function of oil, and consequently "thickness". Anyone who is educated in tribology will tell you that said...
I've heard about some folks with trouble removing the original filter. Fortunately mine wasn't one of those, although I used a "socket" type of tool as it was a little snug. The belly pan was the biggest pain....
You guys got new Mav's, best small truck on the market. Yet no end to the whining and bitchin' about recalls.
So here is some news regarding other makes/models and their recalls:
per Car and Driver, current on web site.
Honda Pilot, Acura MDX
Kia Niro
Honda pilot (different,than previous...
Not only that, I can guarantee the dealer is not using full synthetic oil. I'm 80, changing oil is a little bit of a pain now, but I can still do it. Also, if you go onto oil boards, you will find that folks who tear the used oil filters apart show the Motorcraft filters, fl-400, 910S, etc...
Incidentally I have never used the sport mode. What does it do? The only modes I use is standard and economy. I find the economy mode is bad for highway use, works best in town. Standard mode in highway driving.

Not trying to be a dick, what means do you have that tells you the readout is erroneous? Manufacturers use a thermocouple setup, which generally are quite accurate. The placement in the car is usually a problem, if the sun is hitting the general area of the car where said thermocouple is, it...
I think there is some merit to a larger filter medium. THink about it, suppose the filter (actual filter media) was the size of a postage stamp. In order to get the amount of oil through that the oil pump pumps, it would have to be as porous as a piece of gauze. So the question is, how large...
