Here is my addition to the Area 51 family. Picked it up from Granger after a 10 month wait. Picked it up on Nov 10th. XL Ecoboost Fwd. Only option was a hitch. I am probably the only person who didn't buy anything for it while I waited for delivery. This is what I've added so far.

New wheels. RTX OE Ranch 17x7.5 +35 with factory tires and sensors. (FX4 copies)

Tinted front window 20%.

Rough Country rubber bed mat.

Smartliner floor liners.

How are you liking the Smartliners? I'm thinking of getting them as well. Looks like they fit pretty well from some pics I've seen.

They fit really well. Provide coverage under the gas pedal and up the sides better than other brands I looked at. I got them on ebay from Smartliner. They were $125 for the full set including shipping, best I can remember.

Has anyone bought this colour and got sick of it over time? I love it and always think it looks awesome when I see it in person. I’m just not sure if I’d get sick of it after a year or two.

We had a Chevy that was a color very much like this - maybe a few shades darker. It never really got old during the 5+ years we had the truck. Did get a bit tired of washing it all the time, but Area 51 is a bit lighter, and definitely does not show dirt as badly as the color we had before.

I'm not much for tinted windows, but my Area 51 Maverick XLT is the first vehicle I've owned that I think would look much better with the front windows tinted to match the rears (if that's legal).

Is window tinting a DIY project for a handy person? Is it a film application?

This just came in for a customer of mine. Thought I'd add a few pictures for the sake of the BAP on an XLT model. I do think the seats look nice, though everyone expected they'd be completely black, so I can understand any disappointment. And the Ford emblems are more bronze than I expected. The bronze even caught my eye from a distance. Overall, I think it is a worthwhile package.

Definitely do not attempt unless you are experienced. Pay a shop to tint the front side windows. I've had tint added to every car I've owned.

Yes, it's a film application, but though it CAN be a DIY project, it's easy to get it wrong, and then you've got a real mess on your hands. Experience is important, and a good shop can do it really quickly - so you think "this is way to easy to pay for it next time"... Don't fall for that - it's a lot harder than it looks!

My son bought an otherwise nice-looking used Honda Prelude that had DIY tinted windows. There were wrinkles and air bubbles under the tint film, so it looked awful. One window was so bad it looked like it was cracked. He tried to remove the film, but it was REALLY stuck on there. I don't know what the DIYer used to adhere them to the windows, but it "pulled" and "stretched" almost like rubber cement. Now he had a REAL mess on his hands. Wound up paying a shop almost 3X the normal install rate to remove the old crap and reinstall new tint properly.
