The marvel for me personally is the fact that in 2005 my Ranger FX/4 was MSRP $27,500. Fast forward to 2023 and my 23 Maverick FX/4 was $30,600. That is only an increase of $3,100 in 18 years. Now grant you, I got $6,000 off MSRP on the Ranger and $0,000 off MSRP on the Maverick. :ROFLMAO: Factoring in inflation and technological advances the Maverick was so much the better deal. Yes, lowest cost new truck sold in North America. #1 reason I bought one. I have never been a big money spender on bad investments like motor vehicles. Never got that wrapped up in them to make the financial sacrifice.

Dealer has looked into the double honk issue, could no replicate the issue and that was the end of it for that day.

No Mt. Olympus for me, sir. I live north of the woodchucks, it's Mt. Washington for me.:crackup:
Everyone talks about how cheap they were but the Ranger actually got to be quite an expensive little truck if you optioned them up.

The double honk can be caused by pressing the door lock button on the fob before opening the door from the inside. There might be other causes but that's how I nearly scared the poo out of myself last night when it blasted me with both barrels in the garage.

I found one at Dollar Tree ($1.25) and another at WalMart ($1.18). Problem is you have to dig through a lot of inventory. I wonder what people think about a 68 year old man digging through the Hot Wheels looking for a toy truck.
I think most people would assume you're either a collector or you're hunting it out for your grands.

You use the fob from inside the vehicle?

I argue that people, such as yourself, are what would bring the website down. A funny and clean joke is made and you get bent out of shape. Please.

Also, you call the Maverick an "Engineering-Marvel" and I find that strange. It's an econo-truck and nothing more. The Maverick is occupying a segment that was massive at one point 30-40 years ago. The only "marvel" is that it took so many years for a manufacturer to address the market, again. There is absolutely nothing exceptional or marveling about the Maverick, which is kind of the point of the truck.
It is probably a "Maverick" as in the thought of how to produce a Low-Cost vehicle.
And in the case of the "Small Truck" market, (of which, I was a part of that Massive Segment, from begining to end) it makes sense..
Studies showed how most people (basic comsumers) used the "Ranger".
And for Commerical users, it was a perfect "Light" truck..
If most of the coming "EV's" are (from what I have read) to sell for less than $25,000.
then this is the way of things to come..

Having OWNED, Rangers for 36 years.
I KNOW that Times have changed.
ALL Vehicles are now... "Throw-Aways" (Safety- YES).
I DO appreciate this Truck more, than the past Rangers that I had owned and wished FORD, would have produced this PUP, Back in 2011... 😉

And YES, Back to the Topic at Hand...

I will get at least Two of these.. 😍

Try being a 75 year old man rummaging through the finger nail polish at the Dollar Store. I use it to seal the primers and color code on my deer hunting .308 rounds I re-load. Different colors for different loads.

Bought both of the ones at the local Dollar-Tree. One to open and place in the cubby, and another to keep pristine in the packaging.....the cubby one is bound to eventually go flying out and get damaged or go missing. - Besides, they're in what appears to be Atlas Blue, matching my truck.

I still have yet to track down the Hot Wheels Maverick. Not buying one at an inflated price on eBay.
I just got one off Amazon
Forget what I paid but wasn't much.

That's a great price. I would have guessed 10 bucks at least given the way everything is so expensive these days.
Sure is a great price. In the army 80's I worked for Mattel
Hotwheels 4 for a dollar in employee store.

I’m seeing $8.50 on Amazon. I’ll wait until I find one locally for a buck and a quarter.

When I was a kid I would have relatives visit the UK. They would come back with die-cast cars that were way better than matchbox or hotwheels. I forget the brand ne though.
