QUESTION: For those that received their hybrids July 2024 or later, how many months did you wait?

I ordered mine in July 2023 (xl) and it is coming in second week of October, 2024. I am pretty pissed off with my dealer and their lack of any follow through. The dealership told me that they have approx 35 on back order from 2023. They have only received a few and most customers are just walking away. Per another dealer in the same state, he thinks that my dealer screwed up on the ordering database in 2023. This other dealer said that hybrid delivery times are only 4 months in 2024 and not anything like a year or more. Then I hear stories that certain dealers have higher priority in the supply chain.

With the 40 or so hybrids on back order at my dealer, only 4-5 have arrived with mine being one of them.

My dealer is small time dealer and not a big city one, so I can see where this build "priority" comment may apply.

I engaged Ford Motor Company where they were trying to increae my priority and their last voicemail to me was that my 2024 vehicle was not going to be built. I just inferred from the voicemail that the 2024 model was not going to be built and that I would have to reorder a 2025 model. Well, it (2024) got built and is being delivered next week.

Smaller dealers typically get fewer allocations. They also have fewer orders. So IMO, it's a crap shoot as to who will get an order filled first.

Allocations matter. And, within those allocations, higher priority orders typically get filled first. Higher priority orders have lower numbers. IOW, a priority 19 order will probably not get built until after a priority 10 order gets built. Some dealerships will bump your priority, if you ask. But it still hinges on allocations. If your dealer has no more allocations for the model year, your truck won't likely get built.

Myself, I would never use a stealership or any other business that talks shit about their competition, in an attempt to make themselves look better.

For 2024 MY, dealers were informed ahead of time how many allocations they would get. We don't know how many orders your dealer took in comparison to how many they had in allocation.
The "mix" of their orders is also important.

XL hybrid was highly constrained. Ford was not able to build all of the 24 xl hybrids ordered.

Your dealer should have known that that was an issue.

Most dealers actually got more Mavericks than their initial allocation. But the extras they got weren't XL hybrids.

Hybrid availability did improve in 2024, but not for the XLs. It is really hard to compare order wait times between dealers because we don't know their allocation and order #s.....and what constraints their orders did or did not have!

My priority started out at 10 and eventually was lowered to 3 after talking Ford Motor company. Only 4 out of 40 from my dealer were built. To help the liklihood of being built, Ford Motor told me that I should strip all options off my build, which was already an XL hybrid. I am wondering now if less options, less profit which lowered the liklihood of being built. But then again, no one at this dealership was lucky on getting their hybrid built. Just a few of us.

Are you saying that if I had ordered a hybrid XLT or hyrbrid Lariat, it would have been less constrained and I may have gotten it sooner? My salesman at the time thought if I kept it simple, I had a better chance of getting it sooner.

Yes, you would have most likely gotten it much sooner.

Someone at the dealership (salesman? sales manager) should have probably contacted you and asked if you wanted to change to XLY to greatly increase your chanced of faster scheduling.

Ford updates dealers weekly about "constraints" on retail orders. So the information was out there.

In general, adding fewer options is usually better. But there were just simply too many orders for XLs (especially XL hybrids) than Ford planned to build (or maybe it would be better to say "was willing to build").

That sucks, man. My experience was the exact opposite. I started looking for an economical utility vehicle in the spring of 2024. A few months into my journey, I started reading up on the Maverick, as it wasn’t initially on my radar. The more I read about it and the more pictures I saw, the more I liked it.

Once I decided I wanted a Maverick, I searched online my desired trim level, engine choice, color and options I wanted. The closest exact match was 80 miles away and $500 under MSRP. So I drove there that night, after work, drove it, liked it and bought it, all in the same day.

I think that this local NC dealer saved some face by going to Florida and buying 17 Mavericks and putting on their lot this past month of Oct. A few were hybrids but most were the turbo versions. And now they are sitting there not being sold. Most customers have walked away waiting for the hybrids that were on order since 2023.

Have you considered purchasing a vehicle already on the lot? I got my black 24 XL hybrid a few weeks ago. It took me less than a week to find and purchase.

When I was ready to give up on receiving my order, Ford Motor company referred me to other dealers that had my same vehicle on their lot. The problem was that those dealers were marking up by $2K cause they could. It became the principal of the matter at that point and I refused to give in. Weirdly, after Ford Motor company told me that mine would not get built and my dealer was going to have to resubmit a 2025 order, it got built in Oct, 2024. second week Still can't figure out how it worked out before the plant changeover to the 2025 model. It was labeled priority 3 at that point.

I lucked out. Mine was below sticker. I jumped on it when the dealer emailed me.

To me, it sounds like your dealership ran out of allocations. It can happen at any dealer, large or small. A large dealer will usually get more allocations, but also more customer orders. A small dealer - less allocations, but less orders.

An XLT or Lariat order may be more likely to get built than a lowly XL, because it's a higher profit order for Ford. If your dealer told you to remove options to speed up the build, that would only help is one of the options was currently a Constraint Item.

My XL order was delayed because I had added a hitch receiver, and those were a constraint item at the time. My sales guy told me if I removed it from the order, it would have a higher change of getting built. I had him remove it from the order and it went to Production the very next week. Still, it took 13 months from order day to delivery day. But that was back in the early post-COVID mess, when a lot more things were in short supply.

So what are you so upset about? Sounds like your dealer didn't have allocations being a small time dealer and that it took longer than it would if you went to a big time dealer with many allocations.

You're getting a 2024. Is there an issue?

The issue is/was this:
This dealership provided varying comments to me in the beginning on when I would be getting my hybrid Maverick. Depending who I talked to, it was 6 months delivery up to 18 months. Never any details on terms like "constraints" or "allocation". In fact, they said the opposite (XL should come sooner). A complete lack of sophistication at this dealership. After a year, I engaged Ford Motor Company and their marketing people. After 6 weeks of investigation, they told me that I wasn't getting my Maverick and I would have to reorder the 2025 and start over in the queue. I gave up and bought a Jeep Grand Cherokee. After all of the radio silence from the dealership and Ford Motor company feedback, the Maverick got built. Complete debacle and now I have to decide whether to lose $10K and sell the Jeep. I want to give feedback to the locals in my little town that waited forever and this lousy dealership.
