My 2003 Toyota Corolla is approaching 280K miles. Needed a waterpump and starter that whole time. What do you think these hybrid Mavericks will provide. Do you think they can go to 150 or 200K miles with minimal repairs. Or is this more of a 70K mile vehicle and then dump it back on the dealer? When I check the used car ads for Toyota Rav 4, I see a lot in the 250K+ mile range. Mavericks are too new to the market to have historical information. What's your thought on our Mavericks, especially the hybrids.

Hybrid car batteries can easily last over 10 years. I owned a 2015 Prius and it was trouble free and I got 48-50 mpg. Hybrid ICE's (internal combustion engines) run 40%-50% of the time of a normal ICE. They don't have starters. The A/C system runs separate from the ICE. Water pump is electric and only runs when the ICE is running. So to answer your question, a hybrid SHOULD last as long if not longer than your Corolla did. Just my two cents.

If you search Reddit, there are lots of postings by Ford Hybrid owners saying they've gotten well over 300K miles. I saw a post somewhere, maybe Facebook, by a small business owner with a fleet of 10 or so Hybrid Mavericks. He said they have been mostly trouble free for 200K miles or so.

70K? That is STOOPID low. My 1975 Pinto lasted until a ring broke in the 2.3L at 110,000 miles.
Don't be silly.

It's not so much the miles as the years.

At 15+ years things get iffy.

Well maintained, that could easily be 300,000 miles.

But low miles is iffy at beyond 15 years.
Batteries go bad. And stuff starts to rot.

I wouldn't be surprised if you get 200-300k out of the hybrid. The EcoBoost...feels like it's mated to a questionable transmission.

Should be similar to the Hybrid Escapes. This ain't new technology.

Shoot, I wanna have mine for 30+ years. Maybe a battery replacement will be cheaper in 15 years, as for stuff rotting, that’s to be expected in any car suspension components will need to be replaced

With proper maintenance there isn't any reason you can't see 200K on a modern vehicle. I am currently sitting at 60K on my Maverick. Toyota and Ford have both proven that eCVT transmissions are very reliable. Our engine is a "simple" naturally asperated 4 cylinder and not terribly complex compared to some on the market. It should last.

Proper fluid changes, maintenance, and driving gently will get you a long ways.

HV battery should typically last around 20 yrs. One reason is, the trucks charging system never allows it to charge over around 70 to 80% capacity, nor discharge below 30% capacity. Unlike some phones that will let you charge it to 100% and discharge it down to single digits. Fully charging/discharging a lithium ion battery is very hard on it.

Ford has been building hybrids for a long time and I bought my Son a 2008 Escape hybrid after researching it. NYC had over 300 escape hybrids in their fleet and all were retired at 300k miles with no major failures. They had something like 2 battery cells (Not battery packs) fail in that timeframe but no engine or transmission failures just regular maintenance (best of my recollection).

I actually remember riding in those cabs back in late 2000’s early 2010’s whenever I visited NYC

I have to ask, are your CV axles still good? Or did you have to replace them? It seems to be an issue with some hybrids.

Well mine will last until I die, I guarantee it.
