I love all the storage options on my Mav, but like everyone else I look for ways to make them better. I started really liking the storage bin in the side of the bed, sticking ratchet straps in the bottom, and bungees in the top. I put another storage bin for the other side in my Amazon shopping list and my kids got me it for Christmas. Put a cargo net and other useful tgjngs under the removable divider, and folded reusable shopping bags in the top.
Only problem was when I opened the door to grab a bag or a bungee the others would spill out into the bed, and Iβd have to cram them back in to close the door. After unsuccessfully searching the dollar stores and Hobby Lobby for a suitable bin (nothing really fit that strange space), I decided to make a set of removable bins myself. They turned out so well I decided to share.
I used 1/4β thick finished plywood (a 2βx2β piece was sufficient), and cut out 5 sides of a cube. My measurements were taken from the bin space, and accounted for the curved rear wall that placed limits on how tall the bins could be. Hereβs the final result.
The cutout is to allow the box to be tall enough to hold the junk while allowing for the curved back wall. If you want to make your own, hereβs my measurements. I used 1/2β 19 gauge brads and wood glue to put it all together.
4-3/4β x 5-5/8β back
5β x 5-5/8β front
5β x 4β sides with 1/2β x 1-3/4β cut out
5-9/16β x 4-3/8β bottom
Enjoy!
