First off, this is the general automotive talk thread.
Second, there is no force on earth strong enough to take the maverick keys out of my hands. I am keeping it forever.

Looking into a Hyundia Kona EV and I'm trying to figure out if this is the worlds greatest deal or if I should run far far away.

We found a 2021 Hyundai Kona EV Ultimate with 34k miles on it. It was a lease turn in, only one owner. Dealer is at 19k, car is worth 21250.
The fed tax rebate is 4k and Massachusetts has a $3500 rebate on top of that. And my local electric company has a 1k rebate and $700 towards the charger.

So after all these sick rebates, would you do it? especially if your wife only needs a car to go back and forth with the kids to school and grocery shopping. What I cant wrap my head around is this car was MSRP 48k back in 2021. Holy depreciation!

That’s a good deal! I’d take the savings and get an extended warranty just in case.

Looks like a good deal and Hyundai makes great cars. We have the Palisade because we have kids and grandkids with friends, but the Kona would be good for what you need.

If my calculations are correct, that's around $12,000. Yea, I'd snap that up. But first I'd get a battery health check. There is software out there that will do that for you (sorry, don't have the link).

You have very few worries with the Kona - ten year warranty on a Hyundai and a pretty long battery warranty too. I test drove a Kona electric years ago. Not bad. Not as good as the newest BEVs, but not at all a bad commuter.

I would ask this question over at the Kona owners group too, before I bought. They can probably clue you in on things you might want to inspect before buying. Oh, and ask about the winter range up there in MA, at least if it will be parked outside long periods in cold winter (ex MA resident here). Just make sure the winter range, plus any battery degradation (probably minor) leaves you enough for a comfy spousal commute.

Well I did it, picking up next week. 6yr Hyundai warranty, unlimited miles was 1985, no deductible. If I get at least one battery replacement then the warranty paid itself well over. Now I gotta change those ugly wheels.
