I doubt we will ever see Mattel make all the colors of the Maverick....so I made my own Azure Grey Maverick. Paint is from Scratches Happen which is supposed to be color matched. Doesn't appear to be an exact match...oh well. I may have the first sort of Azure Grey Maverick Hot Wheels in existence...

I wasn't having it either. I did some modding, lol, by cutting off the rear spoiler and a little painting. She isn't going to win any awards, but I like it.

That was the goal. Soak the cardboard backing with nail polish, let it sit a bit and it comes right off. Then the polish evaporates and voila.

I made my own Azure Grey Maverick. Paint is from Scratches Happen.

I'm doing a similar thing, but I'm using Mattel Disney Pixar CARS Mini-Racers as my template. I have to combine parts from a few character cars to get the result and it will be a somewhat cartoonish looking Maverick; but will fit in with the collection that I have going. (a hobby in common with my young nephews).

My question is, from Scratches Happen, did you buy the brush on bottles (2 or 3 part) or the spray cans (2 or 3 part) to get that finish on your Azure Grey Maverick?

Hmm, above my capabilities at the moment as I don't have airbrush equipment.... But the results of your diecast speak for themselves... I'll have to investigate making this happen.

Airbrushing is relatively easy....masking all the parts you don't want painted is the hard part that takes lots of time and patience.

A local customizer in my area did one for me in my 2024 XLT's Terrain color and put it in a hardshell package with Card Art that includes one of my own pics of it. Only $20
