Thanks for all of the suggestions. I was hoping for a consensus opinion but with so many options that’s not going to happen. Many are the same product with different brand names.

I do like the AAWireless but I’m unclear which one works with Car Play. I did sign up for updates on their new version. I can wait a few weeks to see if their new one works with Car Play. Any more suggestions?

Picked up my Maverick on Friday and looking for a BT dongle for wireless Car Play. Some of the threads here are a few years old and there’s a lot on Amazon. So I’m looking for current results with what you’re using. Consistent connection is more important than finding the cheapest. Also where did you mount yours? Thanks for your recommendations.

Been using this one for a year now, and it's been awesome. Every once in a while (maybe once a week) it'll have a tough time connecting, and so I'll unplug it from the USB and plug it back in, then it'll work just fine. And typically takes 15-20 seconds to load the Car Play screen after starting the car, but then it works flawlessly.

Good price, and despite occasionally having to unplug & wait 30 seconds to load totally worth not having to have my phone plugged in all the time. And with the wireless charger I installed under the console (like the Lariat) I never have to plug the phone in and have all the functionality & charging.

Thanks for the suggestions and all of those look solid.

I just checked the spot right below the USB port and that looks like a perfect spot to Velcro the dongle to.

Anymore recommendations?

Thanks, I’m enjoying the Maverick so far on the 150 miles I’ve driven it. It will be my snowmobile for skiing and toy hauler the rest of the time.
I velcro'd mine too. Hidden perfectly

I contacted AAWireless and here's their response:

"Thank you for your interest in our CarPlay BETA functionality!

It is important to note that CarPlay is still in its BETA stage, and our development team is actively working on improving its compatibility and features. Your experience and feedback in this phase are crucial in helping us make CarPlay a more robust and user-friendly feature. Please let me know how it goes for you.
Considering this, I want to ensure you have the best possible experience with your purchase. If CarPlay is a critical aspect of your decision, I would recommend waiting until a stable, non-beta version is released. This way, you can enjoy all the features seamlessly without potential interruptions.

Might also be important to note that returning is not possible for any CarPlay "defects" for the same reason. Please note that we will be there to help you achieve a successful connection and extensive support! Please note that this does not mean that you cannot benefit from returning the dongle within the cooling off period anymore.

As of the current status, CarPlay is exclusively available for the newest hardware version of our dongle, namely, the cs317, which can be found on our web store and Amazon. Only this hardware is capable of running BETA release. For more information, please check: https://www.aawireless.io/carplay

Thank you once again for being a part of our journey towards developing a smooth, wireless CarPlay experience!"

More from AAWireless:

"To update the dongle, you can use a compatible Android device. There is not any AAWireless app in the App Store. You can connect to the dongle via the web app as described on our website: https://www.aawireless.io/carplay

There is currently no news about V2 other than what was already announced. We expect it to enter production during Q3 of this year."

I second this. Works flawlessly with my OnePlus Android phone and my iPhone 13 mini.
They also have great support and put out firmware updates.
Are you able to update the CarPlay firmware using the browser on your iPhone? I don't own any Android devices to connect and update with.

Just connect My iPhone to my AA wireless, yes it shows I can do a firmware update.
Looks like I'm a few behind, lol.
I usually don't do updates if everything's working, which it is.

I purchased the AAWireless unit. It’s on sale during Prime Days for a nice discount.

After researching and debating this for months I just purchased the Carlink Kit 5.0 on Prime Day for $56
https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0CQRFM9Y...0?ie=UTF8&psc=1&pd_rd_plhdr=t&aref=fU6qxhciyk

It's obviously only been a few days, but the initial impression is GREAT. My biggest concerns were lag - both when turning on the vehicle and when changing songs - and it has very little if any. Boots right up automatically and is very responsive. I would definitely recommend.
