I have had my 2024 Maverick for two weeks and love it! However, at three different times, as I am trying to get ready to drive and when I do the wrong thing because I can't remember whether taking the parking brake off is pulling the lever up or pushing it down, the gear shift locks. I cannot move it to drive until I turn off the vehicle, get out of the car, wait a minute, then get back in and start the car with the correct sequence. Even if I sit in the driver's seat, turn off the vehicle, turn on the truck after 10 seconds, then try to turn the gear shift, it will not work. I have to get out of the car first. Has anyone else had that experience? Is there any other way to fix this problem?

Have an Escape with similar programing. Not had your issue cause never use the emergency, but have had issue where phone won't connect no matter what I do. .... Doubt you really have to physically get out of the car. Just open the door for a period of time works for me with resetting so it will connect the phone.

By chance is your brake hold assist on ( stops the roll backwards on a hill) I only ask because I had this happen to me until I realized it was engaged ( and it doesn't automatically return to off with power cycle it's on until you push the button off again)

I thought it automatically disengaged the parking break when you went to accelerate, though that needed you to go into drive first.

in order to put it into drive you have to have your foot on the brake before you turn the gear shift. I am able to turn my gear shift with the parking brake on and when I step on the brake the gear shift turns with no problem. I then turn off the parking brake or I turn it off before I turn the gear shift.

Sorry for the confusion I may have caused ( not referring to the ( E- brake button ) there's another button that sets the brake so once you push the brake pedal and stop the truck ( or when you're starting it) it actually holds the brakes on a hill or in stop and go traffic. It disengages when you press the accelerator. ( My experience was backing out of my driveway and when I went to shift out of reverse and into drive it would not turn to drive so I was dead in the street until I realized it was engaged 😆)
