Proud to present the competed production style Ranger downpipe. These are in stock and ready to ship.

The stock flange version will be available in 2-3 weeks and will also be in stock.

The days of waiting 2-3-4 months for my original builder to make 1 are over. I don’t care what anyone says, there is not a better looking or better quality downpipe for the Maverick.

If you’d like to order one of these or pre order the stock flange one please message me for special MTC pricing.

Ivan, any idea the gains with this over a stock one?
Obviously not stock tuning but what gains have you seen tuned stock versus tuned with this downpipe?
I have a hard time spending money on something that won’t produce results. This is nothing against you so please don’t take it wrong but having so many other ecoboost builds I’ve done with everyone claiming exhaust helps only to get it on the dyno and see I wasted $800-$1200 for zero gain just noise.

This downpipe will only work with a 2.3 Ranger turbo which is 46mm as apposed to the stock 41mm turbo. So not only are you gaining from the downpipe but the larger turbo.

I’m not going to throw out numbers without dynos to back it up but the turbo upgrade and downpipe should be good for at least 50 whp.

OK so why is this posted on a Maverick forum if it is for the Ranger pickup?
Because folks are fitting the Turbos of the Ranger 2.3L EB to the Maverick's 2.0L EB.
Additionally, some braver souls have even transplanted the Lincoln Corsair's 2.3L EB engine into Mavericks.

🐌🐌RANGER TURBO HOW TO🐌🐌

A few of you have asked so I’ll lay it out here. We can all thank Dueces for pioneering the Corsair 2.3 turbo upgrade a while back. At the time he tried a Ranger 2.3 turbo (Also found in the 2.3 Explorer) and found that although it bolted up to the head, the downpipe flange was different than stock. That lead to his discovery that the Corsair 2.3 turbo was a direct swap. The only modification needed is a small notch of the turbo line tabs, a 5 minute job.

The Ranger and Corsair 2.3 turbo have identical 46/61 Compressor and 45/50 Exhaust wheels.
Our stock 2.0 is 41/55 and 42/47. A new Corsair turbo is double the cost of the Ranger which is why its 57mm upgrade is much more expensive than the Ranger version. Finding a used 2.3 Corsair turbo is damn near impossible and I have yet to find one. The Ranger on the other hand is all over the place. Good low mileage turbos are $3-400. The high mile $200 ones I wouldn’t recommend for anything other than a core. For the amount of work it is to swap a turbo on these, unless it’s a clean low mile one you’re better off just buying a new stock Ranger turbo.

Bolted to the head, the Ranger sits about an inch higher so a few things are needed. You can get away without, but the inlet pipe and intercooler pipe coupler needs a small trim. Fortunately the turbo lines are all OEM but a combo of the stock and Ranger mainly the longer Ranger drain line. The wastegate is also flipped facing up as opposed to down like stock. The connector reaches but i did need to unclip one of the tabs that hold the harness to the block. The main but easy change is pin 1 and 2 on the wastegate harness need to be swapped as they are different. It’s as easy as cutting wire 1 and 2, then soldering them back together but crossed. Big thanks to James Whisler for that one. 🙂 Last but not least, you need the downpipe.

I’ve had a Ranger turbo since the 2.3 swap so this isn’t some new unproven idea. This is the “Ultimate Entry Level” turbo upgrade with OEM parts and top of the line downpipe. As Dueces proved, a 46mm with supporting mods, weight reduction, and good air is good for 12 flat ev was en dip into an 11.

For the more extreme , the CTR57 will max out the fuel system but that upgrade is around the corner. Around the other corner is the exhaust wheel upgrade for when the turbo is maxed. Though I would be very surprised if our “weak transmission” doesn’t object prior to that.

If you have any questions, post them here and keep this strictly on topic for all . Thanks.

This reminds me of the early DSM days. While I don't regret trading my 2.0 for a hybrid, I am a bit sad to sit on the sidelines. Awesome work and I look forward to seeing future results!

Same here- Miss the Turbo tunes on the GSX - Although my 99 was such a heavy car, it was super fun but when the new/stock WRX's would easily do low 14's I was like ok maybe not so fun anymore - lol

Funny that when I first heard about the Maverick it brought back memories of my 93 Talon Tsi AWD. I think a few of us were drawn to that.

My busy season at work is done. Then I can start playing with the maverick again.
