I'm claiming the world record for MPG until somebody can do better. Eight miles later, when I arrived home, I was down to 49.something, but that's still pretty good.

My 253.6 MPG wasn't exactly real either. The first mile was downhill, and the next two miles were along Tacoma's waterfront (read: perfectly flat, level, and slow). It's still pretty darn cool though.

I think on a warm day this summer I'm going to drive to Sunrise Point on Mt. Rainier (Elev. 6,400 ft.) and check the MPG on my 70'ish mile drive home (Evel. 370 ft.). The more traffic and the slower the traffic, the better. I might even end the trip at a restaurant along the waterfront and avoid the last hill on the way home.

I've been able to get a reported 48 MPG (true more like 45.5) for a whole tank, but I can never quite reach 50. I live in the dream that some day, this trophy could yet be mine.

I've done that many times, along with receiving the "all electric" rating. I'm a mileage god!
