Somewhere in my storage unit, I have a box or two of the last few hundred cassettes I decided to save from my youth. Some of them I bought in middle school in the '80's. I'm afraid if I tried to listen to them now, the player would cough up a cloud of brown dust and that'd be that.

I heard on the news that cassettes are coming back! LPs never went away. Motorola got their name by putting a record player in a car.

The Learjet eight track tape player originally designed for cockpit training in the Learjet how many of those plastic pieces of rubble littered Route 66 back in the 80s. They were guaranteed to jam after 100 plays I think.

Ford are you listening? At the very least bring back a factory option for a CD changer. Maybe even just a button that takes you straight to the radio and has a dedicated aux input that is tucked away somewhere.

I still have a Craig 8 track that I'd like to put in my 1973 GT6 when I finish restoring the car. In a Maverick it just makes me wonder if the owner is a hoarder or over the top eclectic.

From the you may not believe it files - The band Cheap Trick issued their new album in 2009 on 8-track tape, and so did Dolly Parton in 2020, St. Vincent in 2021, and Collective Soul in 2023. I've read that they often sell out pretty quickly when an artist offers it. No doubt because I'm sure it's a very limited run, but also because it's damn special.

The 8-track was so annoying to me. Depending on the record company, they'd either fade out/fade in the track change or just abruptly change it in the middle of the song.
I had a deck stolen from the car and they picked through the box of tapes and took their favorites...that just frosted me. "Stole the Led Zep IV, but not the Ian Hunter? Really?"
I saved up and got a Craig cassette player and matching EQ amplifier instead.

I would gladly trade my paddle shifters (I have never used these on any vehicle) for just the ability to install a CD player.
