'23 Maverick Hybrid, purchased new 10/23. Current 3,500 mi (4/09/24). Pulled up to stop sign. Motor quit. Couldn't restart. Dash warning to move safely to side of road. Moved on battery power. Turned gearshift to "P." Locked in that setting. Got out of vehicle, locked & unlocked truck, got back in, able to shift to "D," but could drive ONLY on battery power. Towed to dealer. Now, two weeks later, problem was diagnosed as transmission-related. Service advisor said tech was disassembling transmission to get to "wiring." Has anyone else had this problem? Service adviser says too few Maverick Hybrids in service to know about this sort of problem. They took the Maverick and drove it for 80 miles before problem reoccurred. I am really concerned that this could happen in a place where maybe cell service is unavailable, not to mention tow. Do I have a Lemon? Another problem is the monitor display. It seemed to me to be dim, as compared to the display on other vehicles. The service advisor said he would show me how to adjust the brightness; that there was a knob to adjust. I told him I knew about the brightness control knob but even at "full-bright," it was still dim. Has anyone experienced THAT? Both of these issues connect directly to safety. I get the feeling that I'm catching Ford flat-footed on them. Also, I can't shake the knowledge that the vehicle was manufactured in Mexico. I know of -- ahem -- "hidden repair teams" who go over products manufactured in Mexico to redo shoddy workmanship before being released for sale in the US. I wonder if my truck is one that slipped by the repair team. I guess I should be grateful that at least the seat cushions wern't stuffed with dead cats.
