'23 Maverick Hybrid, purchased new 10/23. Current 3,500 mi (4/09/24). Pulled up to stop sign. Motor quit. Couldn't restart. Dash warning to move safely to side of road. Moved on battery power. Turned gearshift to "P." Locked in that setting. Got out of vehicle, locked & unlocked truck, got back in, able to shift to "D," but could drive ONLY on battery power. Towed to dealer. Now, two weeks later, problem was diagnosed as transmission-related. Service advisor said tech was disassembling transmission to get to "wiring." Has anyone else had this problem? Service adviser says too few Maverick Hybrids in service to know about this sort of problem. They took the Maverick and drove it for 80 miles before problem reoccurred. I am really concerned that this could happen in a place where maybe cell service is unavailable, not to mention tow. Do I have a Lemon? Another problem is the monitor display. It seemed to me to be dim, as compared to the display on other vehicles. The service advisor said he would show me how to adjust the brightness; that there was a knob to adjust. I told him I knew about the brightness control knob but even at "full-bright," it was still dim. Has anyone experienced THAT? Both of these issues connect directly to safety. I get the feeling that I'm catching Ford flat-footed on them. Also, I can't shake the knowledge that the vehicle was manufactured in Mexico. I know of -- ahem -- "hidden repair teams" who go over products manufactured in Mexico to redo shoddy workmanship before being released for sale in the US. I wonder if my truck is one that slipped by the repair team. I guess I should be grateful that at least the seat cushions wern't stuffed with dead cats.

Did you have any recalls on the car done within the last 30 days?

My 14 year old Saturn was manufactured in Mexico and is/was to date the best vehicle I have ever owned. I am loving My24 Maverick but not enough rotations around the sun yet to compare (hopefully this statement does not offend any flat earthers!)

Hi there! Would you send us a private message with your VIN and dealership name and location? I’d like to look into this concern on my end.

I have a low mileage 2003 [21 year old] Chrysler PT Cruiser 5 speed. Manufactured in Hermisillo MX. Solid, no squeaks or rattles, no gremlins. Given, things were simplier 21 hrs ago. Inferno red paint shines like the devil.

Both my 22 EB after 9k miles and my 24 hybrid with 3k miles have been trouble free. The electronics seem randomly quirky so I disabled FordPass and now shut down everything before I power off the truck when I park -turn audio off, turn blower or AC off, turn seat heater off, etc. That solved quirkiness issues. Hybrid relays click almost never but they do it on occasion.

Report the random engine shut-down to NHTSA. Have your VIN handy.

Yeah, and after my non-conversation to the Ford truck "customer relations" rep, contacting NHTSA will likely be my next step. The dealer has had my Maverick 15 days so far. Lemon Law kicks in at 31 days. NOT a productive discussion with Ford rep.

Private, like Hell!!! I want the world to know! VIN 3FTTW8E35PRB00716. Currently at Galpin Ford, North Hills, CA. Bought NEW on 28 Oct 23 from Sunrise Ford in North Hollywood, CA. About 3,500 miles on the speedo so far. Truck's been at Galpin for 15 days, so far. Beside this HUGE No-Go problem, the feature to stop and hold in park --- forgot what Ford calls it --- fails randomly. Then the buggy rolls forward. And the monitor screen is DIM! Smart-ass from Ford smugly says he'll show me where the "brightness" knob is! I KNOW where the d@mn knob is! It doesn't increase brightness enough to be useful. These problems can get YOUR loving customers KILLED! Are you interested? And, today, the telecom with Ford's rep was a waste of time. 90% of the words coming out of her mouth was repeating the phrase "you know." No, Woman! I DON'T know! That is why I called Ford Customer Relations in the first place! There is no loaner vehicle program, there is no program to reimburse me for vehicle payments when the truck is out of service at your shop, with none of the hot-shot mechanics knowing what to do about this, and if I need another vehicle on a temporary basis, I have to arrange it with a rental truck company myself! Am I pi$$ed?? Naw, what gave you THAT idea?!?

In the shop now. Two recalls. Trivial to what I -- and others -- have experienced.
But people started having the issue after they had a specific recall done. May be related. My Hybrid is the same age and roughly the same miles as mine. I have NOT done the dash cluster recall or the BCM update. That seems to be the one that coincidentally started happening after a software update recall

We hear you loud and clear. Please have the dealer look into the last Recall that was done by Ford two weeks ago. It was a massive recall that notes some of the issues you have experienced. The recall has been on all the news channels and the web. Google it, then show it to the dealer.

Just had a similar experience with my 22 Maverick Hybrid. Has 18000 miles and all caught up on recalls. Stop safely now flashed and couldn't get out of park. Waited 7 hours for a tow truck to just make it to the dealership in time for closing. Now I wait until Monday for diagnosis.

I'm not suggesting Mexican manufacturing is the world's best but I never heard of secret repair teams working on vehicles before sale. Doesn't seem that would be economical.

Hey, Todd! Could you please send us a PM with your VIN and the name and location of your Ford dealer? I'd be happy to see how I can assist you with this concern.
