The picture indicates they are not worn out based on the tread wear indicator. Just saying.
Also it is still currently snowing in Wyoming I was unable to stop at stop signs going slow and on the highway could feel the truck moving around. I wanted to wait out the winter and replace at end of summer but unfortunately my safety is more important as I often travel many miles between towns.

I pulled my pirelli scorpions at 18k. They were the scariest tires in the snow. I bought some inexpensive 245 65 17 westlake AT tires at 104.00 a piece. Mounted and balanced them myself. Awesome in the snow and light off road.I have 8k on them now and they still look new. The stock tires are expensive to replace and they suck.

Now you have all the reason in the world to put a set of 235 Falken Wildpeaks on your FX/4. Better tire, better look.
+1
Swapped my XLT tires for the wild peaks in the first 100 miles. Discount tire gave me an almost new credit on the OEM tires.

The Conti's were trash at 15,500 but I tow the camper a lot, put Michelins on, the Defender 2's for under $750 including Road Hazard, rotation and balance at Sam's club, yes they're SUV tires, not the aggressive off road tires but I prefer quiet tires and ride. They've been very adequate for the dirt roads I travel.

It's a bit hard to tell for sure from that pic but it sure looks like those are far from worn out.

Dealership said they were unsafe to drive as they were at 3/32
Unsafe??? Not even close. Wouldn't want to use those in ice/snow or in extra-heavy rain, but those tires look perfectly fine for most freeway driving. Definitely look more than 3/32. At least here in Texas, 2/32 is still legal and passes inspection. On dry pavement, even a little less than 2/32 will drive just fine as long as you are aware that it will take you a little longer to stop and drive accordingly. I would not be any more concerned about a flat or blow-out at 3/32 (or 2/32) as I would be at 5/32 (but below 2/32 the smoother tire seems to be a nail-magnet for some reason).

As others have said, these are "starter tires" and from the factory are only something like 7/32 or 8/32 (where-as a typical tire you buy at a tire store is 12/32 or 13/32). Thus you only get 4/32 of wear from the starter tire vs around 9/32 from a "real" tire (and thus, you should expect less than half the mileage).

As I said it’s still currently snowing where I live. I’ve owned several new cars/trucks and most always have gotten 40k out of the original tires.

Those still have life in them.
Probably 10,000 more miles.

Up to you if you want to change them early but those are still great for summer.

Mine are at 5/32 front and 6/32 rear at 23,000 miles.

Average tires wear down 1/32" per 5,000 miles. Pretty amazing really.

Expensive ones go a little farther.
Cheaper ones, not so much.

By the way.... 1/32" is a very small number.

5 sheets of paper = 1/32".

Amazing tires wear so slowly!

I read quite a few posts about the poor quality OEM tires and bought a better set of All Season tires as soon as I picked up my vehicle in October. I am holding on to the "old" ones to maybe use in the summer, but I'm still thinking about it.

OP you made the right call replacing those scorpions. I don't care what anyone says those things are junk. The most dangerous tire I've ever had in bad weather. I never had a tire hydroplane on the highway in the rain like those. In the snow they were scary. Slide right through intersections going 10 mph. I know this because soon as I replaced them I had none of those problems. I drive the same route every day for the last 20 years. The tires they are putting on these mavericks are for mpg. Nothing else.

I agree! I’m not sure about mpg I only get 25/g for the size I would think it would get closer to an average of 30. The best I ever got was when I had my bed cover off I got 27 if that makes any sense. Overall I do like the little truck!

It’s partially size but tire weight plays a big role in mpg.

My Continental tire's have 22,000 miles and 17 months. I drive 95 % street and highway and tire do well in rain and snow. I will not replace my tire's untill they are worn out and hoping to get another 18,000 miles. This pic was taken 2 months ago.

I'm over 40,000 on my factory set, it looks like I'll easily hit 50 plus on them.

way more tread !
255/75/17
BFGoodrich mud t/a
Stock tires are always Best Buy in bulk for the manufacturer.
Go to a good. A/t if you see a lot of snow .
I’m doing the experiment for all , 32” muds now going to 33” in a couple months then going to drop back to the new bfg all terrains next year .
5k miles on the muds so far nothing to report , off roads insanely.
Haven’t even aired down for big dunes .
these things are so light compared to normal trucks , flotation is easy.
