What The F .........
Why The F ..........
Who The F ..........

No ... the "F" does not stand for Ford!.

I am on my second day of wiring for audio and dash cam.
I always had the feeling I would die of depression .... nope ... gonna pop a vessel!

The plastics are killing me .... not the blue ones as much as the white ones.
The front door wire racetrack opens differently than the rear.
I am pretty sure i'm cutting the tops off...even if i never plan to open/remove plastics again.

The rear speaker grill/cover is well known to be a pain and I expected trouble.
The clip piece nearest the rear door opening wasn't bad at all ..but the one closer to the back glass ..
I knew I was going to break it ..... No demerits yet ... but i have the other side to go still :)

@AUTiger83 - Thank you for your inspiring post!

I feel your pain.

This is what keeps me from installing a front / rear dash cam with LCD mirror. At my age I feel I am just not up to the task of attempting to tear so much apart on a brand new truck. I'm a DIY guy but vehicles at this stage of the game does not make me giggle.

So, I made a nice quick release mount that tucks my GoPro up in front of the mirror, bought the DigiPower 9 hour extended battery module. No wiring, long life and continued coverage while parked without even more wires. A PD wall wart charges it in about 3 hours.

My truck has no squeaks or rattles so no desire to start prying into plastic parts, dash parts and making any.

lol.... i guess I am in a transition phase to where you are.
I am too far in to abort - would take just as much time to quit now as finishing.

I like the idea you have with your Gopro.
I will likely just get something like a Garmin Mini 2 for my other vehicle and use the 12v plug-in.
I will recommend the same to my wife and kids .... at least I won't be doing this again. They can pay to have it done! :)

The Mav is the "new and shiny toy" so it gets special treatment.

I feel your pain. I ran a Dashcam front and back with hardwire. I struggled more with the fuse add ons than the trim. Worst trim piece for me was rear passenger next to seat back. I didn’t intend to pop it up when I was running the back camera. I also took up the trim rear underseat bin for sound deadening.

Good luck!

Are you really complaining that modifying your vehicle isn't easier? Really? Ford doesn't make it so you can change what they did. They do that with you paying MORE money buying top of the line lariat to start .

You know guys, a lot of misery could have been solved if Ford simply offered a USB-C jack up by the rear view mirror. I know this would not solve the rear camera mounting but would have been perfect for me. Even if guys do not want to use a GoPro as a dash cam (not perfectly suited for the job, but adequate for me) it would be nice for off roaders. Just thinking out loud.

Not at all .... it is actually easy .... once you know which way to push/pull/twist.
Mostly screwless .. no tools really needed for most of it ... i think a 7mm at rear speaker grill.

XL, XLT, Lariat makes no difference for what I needed to do.

I simply ran out of patience.

Watch the videos that are already out there a few times.
Wear gloves - plastics are sharp and a few pieces of rough metal were encountered - gave some blood during install :)

The hard part is done .... I am waiting for some down time to complete everything.

I agree, but everything we _may_ want adds to the cost.

Really, a simple slim race track (or two for each side of a moon roof option) running front to back between the headliner and roof would allow for power/signal for many add-ons.

If i ever need to drop the headliner, that is what I would do.

I'm pretty sure the Tacomas offer a GoPro mount and USB on their TRD models. Either extra or part of the package. Would have been a nice touch on the Tremor and FX/4 but as you say adds cost.
