I tried searching here and cannot find the answer. Maybe I'm not searching the correct wordage.

If everything in a VIN is the same except for the last digits, (check digit) does that mean the lower number would be built first?

example below. would 71040 be built before 72940?

3FTTW8J97RRA71040
3FTTW8J94RRA72940

They are probably assigned in order, but not necessarily built in order based on parts availability that make up each VIN. I'm sure earlier VIN's could be scheduled later waiting for a part while an later VIN is scheduled earlier with no parts availability issues.

Short answer is no they are not sequential. All you have to do is look at some of the "scheduling email received" posts to see this. The general VINs lacking the last three digits are posted with their scheduled build dates. The plant probably has various reasons for them being non-sequential: anything from unforeseen supply constraints to building different options together. Who really knows?

I have been waiting to view my Window sticker for awhile. Looked at my dealers website and he has
3FTTW8J93RRA72833
3FTTW8J94RRA72940
Both of which you can view the window sticker.

mine is 3FTTW8J97RRA71040 and no window sticker yet.

The suspense is killing me. Just want to see it

Superg0, I am surprised your window sticker is still not available. I put your VIN in the module checker and it appears it has been built.

Wonder why it wouldn't be available yet? It's not a mistake in the VIN number, and usually the window sticker is availale before it's built.

Maybe you'll have to wait until you see it in the trucks actual window?

Good luck! :)

I do not see anything in the module checker. Are you using my Vin?

I'm sorry, Superg0. My mistake. I copied your VIN, but when I went to paste it, mine popped up and I clicked it. I assumed it was yours that I had copied.

Duh!

I should've doubled check what I pasted.

I'm also surprised mine would still be remembered, but it must have stored my VIN in the cookies for that site?

Regardless, my info was bad.

I hope I am remembering this right... in one of FordVideoGuys videos he mentioned that they were. That's how he could tell how many were built. My guess is they are sequential to when they were scheduled, not when they are built since when you get the email, you have been assigned a vin.
With that thinking, within one month it would be sequential, but each week would not.

Generally the case, but not even the initial scheduling is in numerical sequence. I had a low VIN, under 100 for MY '24. Higher VIN's were scheduled before mine. I was rescheduled once before it was built. When it was actually built, VIN's higher than 3000 had already been built. This is not unusual. All you can really say is lower VIN's are generally built before higher ones, but not necessarily. Probably at least a 3-5000 fudge factor, IDK.

Actually VIN is assigned in order. The public just does not see that part of the process. When Ford finally pulls the order and puts it into the build que it gets a VIN. The last numbers are the sequence numbers and are assigned in order for that model.
BUT....
From there nothing happens in sequence. Orders are held up for commodities. Or different plants ( not in the case of the single manufacturing plant of the Maverick) are ahead or behind of schedule. Even making Bronco Sports can effect how the sequence numbers end up actually going down the line for the Maverick. By the time the vehicle actually gets built, there is NO sequence to much of anything. Stuff can be held, with a VIN, for months before production.....

Yah... what he said! 😆😜
I knew it was sequential, just not exactly how or when it was sequenced!
