Really? I set out to buy electric, had a lightning reservation, but the price increases and interest rate hikes put it out of my budget by the time I could actually get my hands on one. Also, my dealership was sold to another, and the reservation was lost along the way. That's the reason I ended up considering the Maverick, new vehicle, lowest cost available, and efficiency.

With that rationale, I should have gone hybrid, but AWD was a must for me. I'd still take a lightning pro model in a heartbeat, if it could be got for the originally announced price.
Insurance gave me 46 grand for my totaled Maverick in July. I put my order in for my new Maverick in July and waited.

The lightning was 51 grand out the door in December.

There was no further thought required.

Wow. That's an incredible payout, I would have done the exact same. Which model was that?

Local Ford dealer has been sitting on two Lightnings for at least 2 months. No takers. McGee Ford, Montpelier, VT. I hear they make nice whole house emergency generator solutions if fully charged.

EVs are sweet. IF you have somewhere to charge and the time for that (commute is ultimate, road trips would suck).

But I also saw an article today that in Florida people with EVs are chewing through tires in 7-8k miles at worst, 10k pretty regularly. EVs are HEAVY compared to ICE vehicles.

That's even more incredible, but I meant which Maverick model.
XLT, lux, cp360.

Fortunately, the dealerships around me are all crooks, they were adding $15k markup, so the insurance used their recent sales to reimburse me.

Not particularly heavier compared to trucks. It's more leadfooted drivers with gobs of torque on tap that causes the tire to skip and wear down faster. Boring, sedate EVs that aren't chasing Tesla 0-60 times don't have as much of an issue.

Read a similar article that stated they burn through rubber at about 30% faster. Same article stated they are more expensive when needing body work. Not sure the reasoning there.

Trucks have bigger wheels usually (than car/CUV).

I absolutely loved my Maverick. It was everything I needed.

This Lightning is everything I wanted. I don't think about the Maverick much now.

Insurance is through the roof!

The Lightning is only one model out of many different EVs. The ones quoted in the article were such a Mercedes EQS. And the Lightning is closer mass-wise to an F-250, only one size larger.

I was just pointing the Lightning and the F150 are 2K apart in weight. Not what I would refer to as similar.
