Man, I have to worry about the First Edition decals!
Meh, First thing I did when I got mine home was peel off the FX4 decals. Unbroken black looks much better. ;)

Mine moves around quite a bit in the wash too. Hasn't done anything which indicates potential damage yet, but I watch it each time.
I know from talking with a district manager at the local wash, they have dozens upon dozens of cameras there to document if vehicles have come in with damage, or if they've caused it. They have your vehicle from almost every angle and nearly every second it's on their property. I feel pretty good about using them as anything done in their wash will have been filmed.

That said, the hood on my Ram would lift in the wash, too, when I got to the dryer. Three years no damage.

Oh, and from talking with that manager at the wash.... Some of the claims they'd heard were nothing sort of insane. i.e. a customer blaming them for their tires wearing out from going through the wash. Yup, rolling through the carwash wore their tires out... You can't make this up!

After a car wash, I always like a good blow. Keeps water spots off and looking spiffy!

This. Your vehicle is constantly pelted with dust, rain, snow, ice, and debris from the load Billy Bob in front of you didn't secure properly. Don't get me started on dump trucks covering a highway in dust/dirt, or semi trailers blinding people with snow and ice from not clearing it off.... A car wash is very low on the list of concerns.
Those gravel dump trucks are no joke. I try to avoid them as much as possible.

Damn I hate those dump trucks. Don't live far from a quary. They go up a nice hill left and right lane. Blocking anyone from passing. Roll off dumpsters are also cowboys.

1. This is just an internet thing. These AI-powered smartphone cameras make people more confident in their abilities than they should be.

2. Obviously, we don't have to deal with road salt and it was warm enough last week that I hand-washed my Maverick without issue.

For me, being generally anti-carwash is for one reason alone: I don't want to pay the cost and there is always a line (I hate lines). However, I'll still go there about twice a year to do a good cleaning.

The high velocity air blower / dryer at an automated car wash inverted my hood!

Hood went from generally convex to generally concave under the air pressure from the blower.

It did "pop back" but this can't be good for the paint.

Anyone else ever see this?
Man the hood must be thin!
I’ve been through several car washes and never had an issue. Perhaps you just got a faulty hood

I was on a two lane highway that has a 70 mph speed limit. I met a 18 wheeler coming from the opposite direction and was shocked at how much my hood buckled up and down! I expected to see some permanent crease somewhere on it but seemed to have lucked out.
Looked like a NASCAR in-car camera view from Daytona, crazy.

Not a fan of the harsh chemicals at a touchless but would probably go into withdrawal if I had to skip the underbody spray in the salt season.
I select the minimal wash, basically a rinse and go, every time and fast walk past the blower.
We've had so much bloody rain the last two weeks Mother Nature has done a great job of keeping my truck clean for me. But, I agree with you on the undercarriage spray as I live in winter climate where they salt the roads. I pick a nice day where it's above freezing to get it cleaned up at a local car wash. It's an older place and blowers aren't very powerful compared to other places I've been so very little flexing of front hood. In summer I'll run through the car wash a little more often as they do hand dry it as well because of the crappy blowers. Lol.

On my lariat, there’s some kind of soft injectable filler insulation, which is somewhat flexible it’s between the top of the hood and the panels underneath it that form the interior of the hood. You can feel it being spongy with your fingertips and I think that prevents the push down inversion you’re talking about. I think most likely they didn’t put enough of it in the right spots on your hood I’m going to find out what it is and put some more in to prevent that since I do use car washes frequently and always have and then Claybar out the scratching imperfection twice a year.
