Dash cam w/ parking mode on Hybrid.

Got my Maverick last week, and was looking through some of the posts in regards to a dash cam with parking mode causing issues on Hybrids. I've installed dash cams before and would usually hardwire, but I don't want to have any issues with the batteries or the "deep sleep" error notifications. I bought a Thinkware F200 Pro, I noticed that the optional OBD cable on their website says its compatible with Hybrid vehicles. Is this the only way to not have issues or can I use the add-a-circuit fuse connectors at the fuse box and be fine?

You could always add one of these and avoid the issue all together.

I’m sure they can be purchased elsewhere. I have an older version and it charges as you drive then switches to battery when you turn off the ignition.

I have been running a cam hard wired to the bcm on both my hybrid f150 and hybrid fusion without issues for the last couple of years. I have blackvue cams and have the volt cutoff set to 12.5.

So just to update this. I had ordered the Thinkware OBD cable from Amazon as it had free overnight delivery. Got it this AM, it doesn't work. It caused the camera to turn off after a few seconds when I was connected to it with WiFi. Tried the 12v plug that came with the camera and it worked fine, so looks like I'll be going to the fuse box with some add-a-circuit fuse holders.

I have the Thinkware F200 Pro hardwired on my hybrid. It's going on six months now with no issues. Thinkware had just come out with an OBD cable that was compatible with a hybrid, but I oped for the hardwire. Again, as yet, nothing negative.

@crgator did you have any specific video you watched to help with the install? I ordered the F200 pro and upon discovering the OBD2 adapter doesn't work I now have to figure out the hardwire option...

I had mine installed. My dealer wouldn't do it but agreed to pay for the installation so I wasn't about to try it myself. FWIW, they do now offer an OBD2 that's compatible with Hybrids.

Are you referring to the echomaster thinkware OBD2 kit? I saw that buts it's more expensive and bulky so if wiring isn't too difficult I thought it might be the better option.

Also, it says it doesn't work on vehicles with a gateway module and from what I am finding all newer fords have a gateway module?

I think that's the one. It was almost six months ago when I had mine installed, and I'm lucky if I can remember six hours ago.

I just watched it, but i couldn't tell in the video if his truck was a hybrid and he didn't mention if parking mode works. It looks like he is using the echomaster adapter but I couldn't tell for sure... @Redneck Garage could you confirm?

Yes I have a hybrid and yes parking mode does work but I have i turned off due to the deep sleep issue ...... The adapter came with the camera I suppose due to it was a Ford branded camera,
