I don't want to store music on my phone or use it as the player. I want to put . Mp3 files on a flashdrive and play from that.
I know this is not a popular thing to say; but what the heck!! The quality of CD sound is far superior to Mp3's or any streaming platform. It is popular for the last 2 generations to make fun of us old timers for whom CD's are the way to go. Keep laughing while we continue to enjoy really good quality music, while you all have fun with your tech.

Problem is, this "old timer" has tin ears these days and so high fidelity sound is wasted on me. .mp3 music sounds just fine. What isn't is the inability to have multiple albums/folders on the same flash drive and be able to switch between them or stay within one folder.

I ripped my cds to my computer then put them on a jump drive 1500 songs so far
So if you want to play a particular song or even all the songs in a particular album how do you do that? If you don't mind just randomizing the 1,500 songs, this works fine. Otherwise... ???

Easy on a phone. Just tell your phone's assistant to play [song title]. Not sure on a USB drive or CD player.

I don't want to use my phone's limited storage for storing music. USB flash drives are cheap and can store a lot. If I'm okay with just having the songs randomize or play in sequential order, this works fine. Finding a particular song or staying with a single artist or album, not so much.

CD players haven't been gone THAT long from cars. 2018 was the last year Ford offered CD players in thier cars. I think Subaru and some other manufacturers still offered them for a couple more years. It's not that there aren't some people that still want a CD player, it is cheaper for car manufacturers to not install them.
