Hello fellow Mav owners from the rust-belt (SE Wisconsin here). As winter approaches, I've been considering giving my Mav's doors a treatment of DINITROL or other lanolin-based product, applied through the door drain holes in order to stave off rusting of the doors as long as possible. The Fusion I traded in for my '23 Maverick started rusting in the rear passenger door after about 7 years of salty Wisconsin winters. Just wondering if anyone here has any insights to share on this sort of treatment and whether you have suggestions on what works best, if anything at all. Thanks in advance for any info you have to offer.

I had mine done with fluid film, because it supposedly creeps into corners. Had a complete application including all the cavities like inside the rocker panels. I had to buy the clips for my guy, he didn’t have them. Took him about all day…takes time to remove all the splash guards and fx4 skid plates and get in all the nooks and crannies these mavericks have. There’s a real good YouTube video of what you need to get in order to cover the whole thing, my guy followed those instructions. All that said, I have no idea of the efficacy, we’ll see how it holds up years from now. My guy did say I might never need to reapply inside the cavities, just the underside of the body.

Yes do it. We had ours Waxoyled https://www.waxoyl-usa.com/as we have used it on several other vehicles that never developed any rust. Their hard wax goes on exposed surfaces and they use a thinner clear product that penetrates very well inside enclosed spaces. It is very durable and only need to be done once but should be checked every few years to see if any of the black hard wax has worn away so it can be recoated. Not the least expensive initially but less expensive in the long run. It looks like there are a few applications places in WI. Be sure to get it done before any salt is applied to the roads.

I'm in Michigan and decided to go with undercoating and rust proofing. My trade was 19 years old (purchased new) and it had some rust issues so I decided to add the protection. If I can keep mine for 20 years I will have paid less than $50 a year. Cheap insurance in my book.

I had Krowns done on mine. No way I would do my own,. I also added the shield by the driver rear tire. if you haven't yet see that thread its here https://www.mavericktruckclub.com/f...-panel-for-left-rear-underbody-opening.13177/

it really does need some type of blocker. I used galvanized sheet metal and painted it with Rust-Oleum paint 2 coats and then after install hit it with Fluid Film as local Autozone had a can. Fluid Film is like Krowns Otherwise your driver rear tail light is going to get spayed with salt and the inside panel too. Take a look it easy to see. Then look at passenger side see how well its sealed off. They did cover inside area with Krowns but I new it needed a blocker cover . Heck i didn't want my tail light getting covered with salt spray . Oh Buffalo NY area. SALT and more salt on roads.

How much did this cost if you don't mind me asking?
Not a problem . My truck came with Ziebart Diamond gloss total protection. Dealer option was $2900.00 . That included Glass protection and interior protection along with the undercoat , that you know . I beleive it would have cost a lot less if I had it done myself at Ziebart . Ford and their mark-ups are insane . I did not order the truck,it was ordered by someone else who wanted certain options . That deal fell through . It was available , and I bought it that way . I like Ziebart because it is a nation wide company. The shop that did my Maverick has a great reputation in the area . I,ve seen some of their other work ,very impressive.
