Theft Prevention Hinge Lock option?

Is this some sort of device to prevent tailgates from being removed? No picture in build and price.

If you have the XLT, the tailgate locks with the doors. Can’t remove it if it’s locked. For the XL, you can manually lock it.

Not sure, I am switching my XLT order to XL, I added it for ~$65 I think

Gotcha. Yeah, I currently have it on my Lariat order but I'll want more info before I can no longer change my order.

pretty sure it is just a keyed lock to prevent tailgate latch from opening as XL still has a keyed ignition. I believe it is designed to at least slow down, if not stop, theft out of your bed of larger items like an ATV. Anything larger than what 1 or 2 tweekers could reach in and grab over the side of the bed and would need tailgate down to remove.
