no .. i kid ... not one of those threads.

TL;DR My Hybrid Maverick XLT is an upgrade to anything I have owned previously - Love it!

10/19/2021 Ordered '22 Alto Blue XLT Hybrid + Sunroof + Hitch
- Dealer: Mike Fitzpatrick Ford in Newnan, GA (Don Sweger was my internet salesperson)
- $1000 down + $499 doc fee

03/04/2023 Picked up '23 Alto Blue XLT Hybrid + Sunroof + Hitch
- $2750 rebate/private offer was there as expected
- No games/gimmicks/pressure

Regrets:
- I should have just ordered in July 2021 when i had the chance ..because ...
- I didn't get the '22 60mo. @ 1.9% but realistically...
- I did not save $1000 per month that I waited to purchase my truck.

= = The long, drawn out, life drama story - mega extended edition = =
Previous vehicles:
-- '86 Toyota Pickup (HiLux) 5 spd 4cyl
Power _nothing_, no AC, manual roll-up windows
Vinyl floor and plastic interior
13yrs ~290k miles
RIP - 1998

-- '00 Toyota Tacoma SR5 (non-prerunner)
No power mirrors - little joysticks - plastic interior
13yrs ~275k miles
RIP - 2014

-- '14 Nissan Versa Note SV - Current Daily Driver
Me in 2014 with a 60mi commute each way:
- "What's the cheapest 40mpg gas car??"
Wasn't for looks/coolness for sure: ~100hp and about the same torque.
Gutless wonder .... 0 to 60 in .... you guessed it ... 60 seconds or "when it gets there".
It's white and puffy ..puff?? Sta-puff ... Marshmallow!!! "Mallow" for short.
First CVT / Nissan - bad combo
RIP ????

June 2021
=======

New house - need truck but house poor (sorta)
New truck = too expensive
Used = 25k range for full sized - would be parked most the time 'cause gas $ - keep daily driver.

Happened to search for "Mini Truck" and came across TFL article on the Maverick - "Oh snap!!!" moment.
(Teen driving years = mid to late 80's - Datsun aka Nissan / Toyota / Mazda B's / Isuzu Pup)

July 2021
======

Came across MTC and Mav Chat Forums and just hung around lurking / reading.
Engaged dealer via Ford Price/Build.

- Mike Fitzpatrick Ford - Newnan, GA
- Don Sweger was my internet sales person.
- He contacted me to meet and finalize order, but I decided to wait untli there was a Maverick on the lot.
I wanted to see one in person before ordering (my bad - had i only known what this would do).

Aug/Sep 2021
==========

Back and forth on color to get ... Carb Gray was #1 and I was fine with XL.
- Don't use Cruise, but from my Tacoma SR5 experience,
power mirrors were a must, so CP360 on an XL + Hitch and sunroof.

Don't know what Kool-Aid I drank but last minute something told me: go primary colors: red/green/blue/yellow.
BLUE!!!!!!!! Oh no ...another choice ..VB or Alto ... i like dark solids so "AF Blue" color.

Oct 2021:
=======

Got email from Mike Fitzpatrick Ford - Don said he had a Maverick on the lot and to hurry down if i wanted to see it.
- Iconic Silver XLT EB

I wanted to replace my 40mpg daily driver so I order a hybrid same day: Alto Blue Hybrid XLT + Hitch + Sunroof

Mar 2022
=======

CVT in my Versa Note commits suicide - $5k
"Where is my Maverick??!!??!??? Tired of waiting ..had i had it" ...blah blah

Apr 2022
======

Kids car needs 3k in repairs - too expensive to buy used cars even ..so repair it is
"Sure would be nice to be driving my Maverick and the kid could take the Versa Note".

May 2022
=======

Finally decide to check in with my dealership/salesperson after 6 months - just to say hi ..still here ...still want the truck

Sep 2022
=======

No updates so I assumed it was time to visit the dealership to look at ordering a '23 Mav.
Salesperson tells me - no need .. you have a VIN and are scheduled (10/30 ish)
"Oh really?" .... "YEAH!!!!!!!"

Dec 2022
=======

Got date pushed to > 12/9 or 12/19 so pretty much cancel/rollover to '23
"Damnit!!!! WTF!!! I want my truck!!!"

Jan 2023
=======

Got updated VIN and new schedule date ..built 1/26-27..shipped 1/31

Feb 2023
=======

First week in Feb I hit Bambi while driving my daily (Versa Note) - front hit - no real damage:
"DAMN!!! I'm so glad I wasn't in my Maverick" <~~~ see that ^^ for all the bitching i did.

Almost exactly a week later .... Bambi got revenge ..big time! Collision so bad I can't open passenger door.
"YEAH!!!! I don't have my Maverick yet!" <~~ again .. higher power telling me to sit down, shut up, and wait.

Mar 2023
=======

Expected delivery date moved from last two weeks in Feb to Mar 03.
Email my salesperson 3/2/23 for any updates - "Any day now", he replies

Mar 3 i get the call from my salesperson - "Just came off the truck."

Mar 4th I saw an Alto Blue Maverick in person for the first time.
Pollen and all ... it is a gorgeous color. The wheels ain't bad either.
They do look "dirty" all the time but they look good on the Alto Blue truck.

I have no pictures yet because it's dirty and I thought I would have my wheels and bed liner installed.
I have neither ... waiting for those now LOL ... I am not complaining - learned lesson - exercising patience.

Lastly ... what I heard from other new owners vs. what I experienced with my new Mav:
- Radio in my Versa Note sounds better ..for the radio (FM) .. Apple Music via iphone is great to me - not an option in the Versa.
Bass is a little lacking but i love the overall sound - this is my primary way to listen to music anyhow - windows up.

- It's new so it's quiet to me..for now ... compared to my previous trucks and Versa Note - Maverick is more quiet.

Glad to hear that ordering from Don Sweger at Mike Fitzpatrick Ford was a good experience. Mine is on a railcar heading its way there now.

Great story and sounds like you have had a ride for 18 months or so. You are right about the Alto Blue. I just picked up mine yesterday and was so shiny clean. Got up this morning and covered with pollen because it is spring cleaning in garage and Blue Eagle had to sit in driveway. Beneath the pollen, it is an awesome color.

Will await pics when you get it cleaned and finished. I did get my bed cover on today before the rain hit and washed away the pollen.

My first 1000 miles ... my first (touch) car wash ... done.
Still a WIP, but i'll add pics anyhow:

Ford Maverick Hello and goodbye! I am no longer waiting!!! Clean_AF_Blue

Ford Maverick Hello and goodbye! I am no longer waiting!!! WIP_Wheels

Ford Maverick Hello and goodbye! I am no longer waiting!!! WIP_Penda_Liner_1
Ford Maverick Hello and goodbye! I am no longer waiting!!! WIP_Penda_Liner_2

Penda liner without cargo management system ... have to make cuts just like the Ford OEM modular liner ...so just get the Ford one. I thought this would be a true tub but the holes for the
D-ring tie downs on the bed floor near cab were already cut out .. yet there was not cutout for
the tie downs in the upper part of bed near cab - would need to cut those out as well.

I needed to start using my truck bed so it suits the purpose 100% fine.
Since it is still WIP and I plan to install the Ford modular, I did not bother with the tape strip at front.
I don't like any accessories that use tape on paint.

Beautiful truck. Glad all is going well. Mavericks are awesome, no matter the level or color, but AB is the way to go. I have had mine almost two weeks and only problem - water bill has gone up from washing the yellow pollen off each day.

Ok ... anything negative, anywhere on this site, that I said about the stock audio ....
I take back - except the bass.

Source of music and how it is recorded:
- Bluetooth is "louder" than cabled connection, but it adds in distortion as you turn up the volume.
Cabled, I could take the system to 20 with clear sound
Bluetooth, I can get to about 12-14 before i can hear distortion (or not as clear sound).

I have to test with USB again .. and try to figure out if i can adjust record levels.
You know... like we used to do when producing cassette tapes :ROFLMAO:

iPhone Apple Music settings:
- Audio Quality: Enabled lossless audio (cell, wifi, and downloads)
- EQ: off (turn on & play with these options ...can make a difference)
- Sound Check: disabled (this seems like attenuation switch)

Maverick Stereo settings:
- Treble: 100% (all the way up (right))
- Mid: 80%
- Bass: 25%

I found the above settings combined to give me a great sound minus bass.
It is counter-intuitive to keep bass setting low and complain about lack of bass.
I did it so that when any windows are open, i can turn up the music without it starting
to sound distorted or like i was pushing the system too hard (7-14w :) )

I said .... perfect .... i will just add a Kicker Key 500.1 and I should be done.

Well .... while I was wiring for a new dash cam, I decided to wire for amp/speakers too.
I ended up installing 4" Kicker CS series in the rear - they had been sitting on my shelf since
I got my Mav over a year ago (along with some matching 6.5 CS series for the doors).

Ear opening experience .... lots of post on this site about not replacing the rears, but it
made a difference - positive for me. YMMV.
I have come to like the theater/surround type sound vs. front stage only.
Adding the 4" rears took over the highs from the front - meaning I was mostly hearing
highs coming from the rear now vs. the from tweets/doors (this is lower volume with windows up).

^^^ that was before adding any amps

I intended to just install the Key 500.1, but ended up doing both it and a Key 200.4.
After the Key200.4 setup ... it configured for front stage, so I lost the highs from the rear
speakers (basically went back to stock speaker sound from rears - just little fill).

I have yet to install my door speakers, but as of now,
I really think i prefer the surround/theater sound better.

I am coaxial now, so no bi-amp; however, I may throw some money at a component setup
and see if it gets any better (i still want those rears to fill in though and glad I changed them out).
