SPONSOR SUPPORT FOR MAVERICKS at CARLISLE:

On a whim, I decided to contact all the companies listed as sponsors on the MTC forum, seeing if they would be interested in supporting our gathering at the Carlisle Ford Nationals in some way.

The response has been encouraging.

Both Muslogy Auto and Mabett — who sell nice accessory items — will be sending some really nice products for either gift bags (for first 25 registrants!) or a prize drawing.

I am talking more than $750 worth of products here — so far — to be given away at our gathering..

I’ve also heard from:

All thanked me for asking them to be involved , and are getting back to me with what they will be able to provide in the way of sponsorship and support for our gathering.

So. There’s that.
I think you are a heck of an organizer. Truly doing a great job. I plan on being there for Saturday. Not too sure for Sunday. May decide last minute and just drive further out for a hotel.

Sunday’s just a half day (closes at noon), but so far we’re booked through Sunday at the hotel, because we won’t feel like driving back after a long day Saturday.

And yeah, I’m pretty excited that we’re getting support from the sponsors. Really hoping we get our 25 preregistered, so don’t have to pass the hat to pay for the tent and food.

I highly recommend pre-registration so your entry decals and other materials get mailed to you.

For the folks who pre-registered but who have not previously attended Carlisle, you can avoid the worst of pre- and post-show traffic by utilizing Gate 5 as long as you have the show decal on your windshield. Gate 3 (the main entrance and the only one open to those needing to register on arrival) gets very backed up.

We stay in Mechanicsburg and go to Carlisle via 641, Army Headquarters Dr., Claremont Road, and Post Road. Post Road brings us out to Rt. 11 (Harrisburg Pike), where we turn left, then make the very next right on Cavalry Road. Gate 5 is on the left just before you cross the bridge over the freeway.

Fair warning - Harrisburg Pike will be stop and go all through Carlisle on Friday and Saturday before and after each show day. There are alternate routes that parallel both sides of Harrisburg Pike. We always use those; the one described above coming in from the hotel and a different one via Gate 3 returning to the hotel in the evening. We spend a lot less time sitting in traffic that way. Google Maps is very much your friend for finding and using those alternatives.
This is a great tip and probably the best reason to Gate-N-Go. I started utilizing Gate 5 a couple of years ago to avoid the worst of the traffic, especially on Saturday. A couple of things to note about Gate 5: The road is not paved once you turn into the gate; it's Sure-Pak, so it's VERY dusty, which means extra cleaning once you get to your "spot". The dust gets everywhere. Also, the turn off of the main road is at the top of a hill, so be mindful of people with 3 pedals; it's not a big deal for Mavericks, but it could be for people around you with sticks. This is also a residential area, so watch your speed through here.

Was just talking with the woman at the registration office and she said that they do not mail any of the paper work to Canada. She said I would have to pick up all essential my paperwork at the office. Does this sound right to you.

Well, could be. I’ve never known anyone coming to a Carlisle event from Canada before.

You’re planning on coming down on Thursday, right? So you shouldn’t have a problem picking up your packet when you get there—. Shouldn’t be a line on Thursday.

And you’re camping, right? Campground is right down the street from main entrance (Gate 1), I think, where Registration office is. Should be able to pop right in and get it done before you set up camp.

Members of the Maverick Truck Club (all of you on this forum) have been invited to gather June 2-4, 2023, at the 2023 Carlisle Ford Nationals show in southcentral Pennsylvania, which is billed as the largest all-Ford show in the world.

The event manager for this major three-day show just told me that he will set up a FREE 20x20 tent for us on the Maverick class field IF we can get 25 trucks registered by April 18, which is also the deadline for discounted registration.

Showfield registration is $63 if you register by April 18; $70 afterward, and at the gate. That gets you admission for two people for all three days, plus a place for your truck in the reserved Maverick class on the showfield.

Online registration is NOW OPEN — Just make sure you select "Maverick Truck Club" from the drop-down menu when you register, so you are counted toward our total.

As a side note, both Ken Appell, manager of the Ford Nationals, and Bill Miller, owner of Carlisle Events which runs this show, are Maverick owners. (Ken has a 2022 XLT AWD with the Ecoboost engine in Alto Blue ... and has already registered to show his truck with our group.)

Ken tells me they tried to get a Maverick group together for last year's Ford show, but obviously not enough of us out there yet in 2022.

So ... Let's see if we can make this happen!

If you are at all interested in attending, get your registration AND your hotel reservations in SOON, as this is a popular event. Camping is also available in a lot just down the street from the fairgrounds where the show is held — so tow your camper if you have one, but get your space saved there as well (through the event registration).

*** You are welcome to gather with the club, of course, if you are still waiting for your truck. You can register with another Ford ... or buy spectator tickets ***

* PLEASE FILL OUT THE SURVEY ABOVE
so we can track interest
in what could be the first MAJOR gathering of Mavericks. *

Yay, Gary! Make sure you change your survey answer when you do, so we can track the registrations.

IF all the “Definitely, will register”s AND all the “Hope So”s get themselves registered, we’ll be at 22 …

Just three more, then, and we won’t have to pass the hat to pay for the tent. ($250 if we don’t get 25 registered by April 18).

I'm out of town all next week but plan to take care of this after I get back, well ahead of the deadline.

Hopefully when I do I can use that an excuse to then start "encouraging" others!

Thanks! This is going to be a great Mavericky weekend. So far I have seven of the MTC sponsors responding that are happy to support our gathering with contributions.

— The first 25 people to preregister by April 18 are going to be getting some free goodies.

— And some choice Maverick-appropriate items are being donated as giveaways in a prize drawing on Saturday.

***** More than $800 worth of stuff coming in so far … And that’s just from two of the vendors.

Stay tuned for details while they get pinned down.

I've definitely seen some cars from Canada. I used to always see a '68 Mustang coupe and a Galaxy 500 running down together with Ontario plates; it seems like we always crossed paths somewhere along 81.

Carlisle Events offers camping just down the street —

Camping & Trailer Parking

Carlisle Ford Nationals
Available at 119 Carlisle Springs Road. If arriving after hours, you may find your own space, payment will be collected in the morning.
Camping: $75
Trailer Parking: $35

OR … You could try “boondocking” it somewhere, but I know the local Walmart, for instance, does NOT permit overnight parking.

I wonder when do they send this "paper work"? I registered a few weeks ago and Im only 2 hours away. All I have is the receipt I printed out when I purchased it
