Anyone tapped factory bed light to power aftermarket under-rail LEDs?

Tomorrow I think I'm gonna see if there's a pass through between the factory light and where the auxiliary runs. If there is I'm gonna run my under rail lights off of the factory lights. They're right next to each other.

Does anyone have the model number for the outlet and light pictured? I cannot find it on fords website.

My XL doesn't have the outlet, light, and switch.

Could one of you trace where the wires come from? I'm hoping there is a factory harness somewhere I can tap into (just for 12v power).

Does the switch in the bed turn on the overhead cargo light, too?

And does this light NEVER turn off?

I have an XLT with the power outlet and light/switch in the bed. The switch DOES turn the cargo light on the back of the cab on and off. The 12v power plugs on each side of the rear of the bed are NOT connected to the light switch if you have it in your truck.

I've wondered if the wiring is already there even for folks without the power outlet and OEM bed light/switch. Have you pulled the panel to see if there's anything there? The outlet/light/switch doesn't show as an "accessory" one can purchase after the fact, so there's not any accessory instructions for it on the fordserviceinfo.com accessory page Next time I have it on the rack for the oil change, I'll try to see what I can locate

Yes I have pulled out the panel. It is completely empty.

What I'm hoping is that when the wires are traced, there is a connector that can be tapped into to add the functionality.

My guess is is that there is a central wiring harness somewhere in line that just is missing a few pins.

This was the case with the actuator that locks the truck tailgate. I just added the pins and some wire and got my actuator

It appears to be part of the harness that spans the rear 14405. Should be pin 6 of that connector adjacent the spare tire C404.

Thanks, that's what I have been looking for! Do you happen to have the pinout of 14405. I need the switch and the light pins.

The switch is pin 5. It calls out a slightly different female connector, but I imagine both might be able to use the same since they have identical male counterparts.

It appears the BCM just watches for the switch connecting to ground?

It looks like it forks off of a "headlamp switch.". So is there a switch in the cabin that does the same? Where is it?

Looks like it does, yes

The diagram I have for that C404 connector doesn't really plain language say what each pin goes to, just circuit abbreviations (CPL22, VLN37, etc)
