I would like to install the new Ring Car Cam in my Hybrid Ford Maverick, but I was a little concerned when I saw that it is designed to wire directly into the ODB2 port. I recall there being issues with OBD2 adapter dash cameras specifically with the Hybrid, and was unsure if there would be similar issues with this dash camera.

The Ring website does not list the Hybrid Maverick as being incompatible with the camera. It additionally states that the Ford Maverick's OBD2 port location is compatible with the camera, but does not distinguish between the Hybrid or EcoBoost. I also reached out to Ring customer service, and they echoed these same pieces of information.

I plan on reaching out to my service advisor at my local Ford dealership to ask their opinion about installing an OBD2 dash camera on a Hybrid Maverick.
I was wondering if anybody has any advice or suggestions with this. I have worked with BlackVue dash cameras on previous cars, but the Ring Car Cam interests me because of its ease-of-installation and relatively cheap LTE data plan.

Not sure about the odb2 port but I'd be concerned with the draw on the small 12v battery. One of the issues with the hybrid that people are reporting is problems with the 12v battery discharging without accessories hooked up. The cam drawing power might cause deep sleep issues.

In my experience with my Maverick so far, I have only had my truck sit long enough to enter deep sleep once. I was waiting on replacement parts and my truck was sitting on the lot at my local dealership for a few weeks, and my truck went into deep sleep after two weeks. I basically drive every single day, and the longest period of time I have left my truck sitting since then has been probably three days.

I wonder what sort of a power draw the ring car cam will have when the car is off!

I use an OwlCam Similar to the Ring cam, plugs into the OBD Port. Have no issues been using it for a year.

I only got the dreaded deep sleep message when I left an interior light on while the dash cam was in park mode. A quick drive and making sure all interior lights were off fixed it.

If the Ring cam is anything like the OwlCam, it has sensors in a low power state (not recording video). and fully wakes up the camera only to record events.
