Yes - on my hybrid during the last blizzard. I took the palm of my hand and bumped it a few times and it popped open. My guess is if there is moisture it can freeze the solenoid or plunger in the hole. I was at a gas pump but if I was at home I probably would have tried to heat it up with a hair dryer or carefully with a heat gun. Spray on deicer would probably do the job as well. What is different if anything about the fuel door / release on an Eco ? - Ah ok I looked it up - Id still say it is frozen moisture on the EB that caused it. A good dose of WD40 or lube would probably help displace any moisture.

I have heard that the plastic pin has a tendency to break off and Megaohm Motorsports has a replacement aluminum one here that fit my hybrid -

Eb owner. I’ve had the door itself freeze shut, I’ve also had the pin and/or latch mechanism freeze. Testing a light coating of silicone grease on the pin now.

That's really helpful. I haven't had that problem in Texas (yet) but that's a cost savings. Thank you.
