What is going on with Maverick production?

Well, I was told by my dealer that a lot of us will never see the 2023 Mavericks we ordered. Even if we ordered the first day. Talking about Hybrids.

Ford doesn't control all of the items it takes to build a truck which other companies make and they have to buy. All the computer chips needed to build a modern truck aren't even made yet.

So Ford GUESSTIMATES how many items which they will order will arrive. They calculate how many hybrid motors they can build. They calculate how many truck frames each factory can build.

THEN Ford makes decisions on how many computer chips and headlight assemblies and..... to send to each factory. The Maverick is probably their lowest money maker so they don't want to send lots there if they're needed elsewhere.

THEN if for some reason parts they order don't show up, they have to adjust. Which is why my October 2021 order still hasn't beenbuilt although lots of other trucks got delivered to other customers....

Your dealer isn't being told anything from Ford we can't read from whatshisname. But they're likely correct- not all the hybrid orders will get built.

I might suggest that Ford, and other companies, expand their suppler relationships. I have 2 safety recalls on both of my Fords, and have been told no parts till next year. There cannot be only one supplier available for any given type of part. If there is, then Ford and others might look at making their own parts. In the time these shortages have been going on, this could have been done by now, and more vehicles made and sold.

You seriously think the average wait time for a hybrid Maverick will be more than a year?

I have been told very possible, or very possibly no 2023. Might end up with a 2024, made in 2025. Seriously.

Ok? Then I guess the average wait will be infinity because we are counting orders that will never be fulfilled in our averages now.

Some of the 2022 buyers will never see their vehicles. Some cancelled by Ford, others cancelled by fed up customers.

I don’t recall seeing an average delivery time for any of them. Too many convoluted ordering/production procedures. Probably is no “average

Simple: if it ain’t built in the 23 model year, it might go to the 24, as the 22 orders are being done. And then not even done at the beginning of the 24 model year, as some of the 22’s are to be built in 2023

According to my grade 5 math teacher, any set of numbers will have an average.

Not if there is no rhyme nor reason to what is made when. There is a convoluted production priority that invalidates normal math calculations.

You obviously have no clue how manufacturing and production on a global scale works. Your assumptions are just plain wrong. You would rather argue than accept the facts, but it is what it is.

It was backordered.......FOR A YEAR AND A HALF. Look at the dates.

I did see the dates. I've got BFG invoices that old coming in that still show 'backorder' on half of it. I guess we can always sell the stuff next year........

'Average delivery time' is going to be pretty much meaningless since the entirety of '23MY orders was placed in a week. So two people that ordered a day apart might get one in January and another in October; the one that ordered later might even get theirs sooner!

US Car makers are BILLION DOLLAR corporations- they exist only to make money. They only make money if they sell vehicles. They WANT to sell vehicles.

If it were that easy, they would already have done it.

If your order is anything like mine, you probably won't be getting any emails. All of the info I have received is from Ford CS chat. That's how I got my VIN, Production week, Build day, and Estimated delivery date. The paper(s) you signed at the dealer will have an "order code" and "sales code" on them. Ford CS chat will need those 2 numbers to give you any further info. . . .

FordDirect was not helpful (seems it's for dealers, and the phone tree system was messed up), couldn't bring up Ford Chat, but did call Ford Customer Service line, gave them order code and sales codes you mentioned and at least got confirmation that the order is clean and my email is correct. No VIN or production date, but better response than I got from dealer who initially used the wrong email. I appreciate your post!

One of these days they will have a VIN and estimated build week for you. Once you have the VIN, you can track everything yourself at https://shop.ford.com/vehicleordertracking#/

using your VIN + order code from your papers.

I spent 8 years working for Chrysler in supply. Going too diverse in an unstable world is not good management. Claiming that others are too stupid to “understand” is the height of unfounded arrogance
