Hey guys first time long time.

Just installed the soft cover from Ford and it won't latch unless tailgate is open. The cover is as far forward as possible.

Any ideas?

That shows it has a good seal on the tailgate. I noticed mine wouldn’t lock down with the tailgate closed also. Not a problem for me since the tailgate has to be open to release the top latches.

Yeah I thought the same. But the weather seal is behind the tailgate if we do it while open

I can close it with the tailgate closed but requires a lot of force

Have you got water in the bed from closing it like that?

IIRC, that's the way it's designed to work. Gotta open the tailgate before latching the cover otherwise you risk damaging the seal leading to more water intrusion

Mine has to be closed with tailgate open. Doesn’t take a lot of effort to close

Thanks. I thought the seal would need to be over the tailgate though to keep the water out

Yeah with it open very little effort. But with it closed forget about it.

None that I’ve noticed.
At first I had it pushed all the way up touching the cab but I later pulled it back about a finger width. I’ve been through a car wash several times and I’d probably noticed if it was leaking much.

How about those front corners near the bulkhead?

Seems like there is nowhere for the water to go but into the bed

I was getting a little water from under the indentation in the bed rail up near the cab. Trying plumbers putty to see how that does to resolve it.

Got a lot of rain so far today and it's only coming in those back corners near the cab window @Don806
