After seeing so many people ordering and having to wait forever to just get frustrated and give up or get delayed over and over, I thought I would share some tips on how I was able to get my hands on a maverick.

I was one of the lucky ones to buy one right off the lot. For MRSP.

I live in Calgary Alberta, I started my search by calling local dealers, once I found out the maverick existed and checked all the boxes for what I was looking for, they all basically had the same response of, borderline laughing telling me, I should order, I won't find one and maybe I'd have one in a year.

Me being stubborn I didn't give up so what I started doing was checking the ford main website, which allows you to check inventory of vehicles across all their dealerships, after reaching out to all the local dealerships that showed 1 in inventory, they all told me like above it was their lot vehicle that they would use for test drives but it wasn't for sale and basically just used for demo's.

So what I ended up doing was widening the search radius as far as the ford website allowed, and not many results but a few anyway, few more calls and no luck.

I just re did the max radius search everyday, 3 days later I noticed a new result, and it was the model and color I was looking for 135km away in the wonderful small town of Drumheller. So I went to the Drumheller dealer website, and it wasn't listed there....So I call and speak with them and sure enough, "oh ya we have received a maverick today, we just pulled it off the truck, we haven't even listed it on our site yet" BINGO!

Drove out after work the next day, drove it, and bought it. Picked it up 3 days later after they could detail it, and we could get all the paperwork sorted.

So my my case it looks like the ford main site inventory check may be updated faster in terms of inventory then the actual local dealership sites, so like me you might be able to get lucky and scoop one up this way.

So long story short, with some luck on your side, and being diligent about checking everyday, you too can scoop one up and skip the line so to speak.

This was back in April 2022 I'm not entirely sure if the situation is worse now then it was then but either way, hopefully this will help someone in their search.

Good Luck

Good for you! Your diligent efforts paid off. How long did it take from when you first started your search til you received your Maverick?

I would say all in all,

Between discovering Maverick existed, excessive googling looking at pictures, and reading about them, starting my search, and buying, probably 1 month total with the search / purchase only taking about 1 - 2 weeks.

I used a similar technique and now am enjoying the white '22 Lariat 2.0 EB pictured because I realized I wouldn't get the '23 Lariat hybrid I ordered on 15 Sept. 2022 until 2024. Or so I was told by my dealer. I spotted it on the Ford website with the options I wanted, with the exception it is a 2.0 EB. Here in SoCal they are marking up '22 Mav's on the lot $7500 and more like $9500 USD for a hybrid. So I felt fortunate to pay sticker plus $1700 USD for dealer added crap nobody would want. But that was the best price in my market. I travelled 90 miles/145km to Riverside CA to get it. It now has 500 miles/805km on it and I am very happy with the power, ride, comfort, handling and 31 mpg highway I got on the drive home from the dealer. I had been driving a GMC Canyon SLE V6. When my ordered Mav Lariat hybrid arrives I can decide whether to sell the 2022 or pass on the hybrid. I do not have a deposit on the order and at least in today's market, my dealer said he can sell it in an instant above sticker.

I tried that here in NW Georgia, even using Zip codes for cities outside the normal search radius. I found several listed that sounded good, but every one was either a customer order, not actually in stock (some imaginary “in transit” ghost), or selling at up to $7000 over MSRP. I might try it again. Long-Lewis has several dealerships in Alabama and they claim not to add additional dealer profit, or whatever they’re calling it these days.

I don't find anything implausible with what you did, other than the dealer selling it to you for MSRP.

Thanks for sharing. I'm betting you helped someone else here find a way to get a Maverick.

This is what I've been doing, and all I've seen are green stickers (custom orders). The closest I got was a dealer who told me the original buyer had backed out on the order, but someone else had bought it.
I feel like I'm annoying them, but it's a quick 'no, not available' and really, it's worth the phone call in my opinion.
I have a custom order in, but my car is going to die any day now (literally, random stalls and misfires, spun bearing making noise in the transmission) so I have to try!

Keep fighting the good fight, I'm sure the market and availability is much different stateside, When I was doing my hunt there were only about 14 results within the widest radius, I called about them all, and got the same as most (customer orders / demo model not for sale) so then I could just ignore those results and check everyday for new ones to pop up. Lukily my hunt was short and sweet I'm up to 16k kilometers on my XLT and still loving it.

Well, this just worked for me - I've found one that's available, and the dealer was asking for a $5k markup!
But then my dealer called today and offered me a cancellation - no Lux package, and it has CP360 and moonroof, but my wife said as long as I don't complain that I'm too tall for a moonroof, we're good to go haha. Going to keep my original order and trade it in or find a local maverick enthusiast.
