Kindly requesting input on what I should do…

I have a ‘22 Lariat Hybrid “in production” with a window sticker. I believe it’s on the assembly line as we speak.
I also have a ‘23 XL Hybrid rollover ordered (with the assumed discount from Ford) from Chapman.

…Details and dates in the signature. ..

My plan was to pass on the ’22 Lariat and accept the ‘23 XL. My reasoning is the XL is roughly $8k cheaper (I got a better deal from Chapman - plus the Ford rollover discount)

That said, with the supposed limited allocations we are all reading about, I am now wondering If I should just take the Lariat.

I ran trade in values on all the usual internet suspects, and they’re not offering as much as I will pay for it plus title and tags, let alone to make a dollar or two. So it’s not as simple as “take the Lariat, then sell it for a profit if/when the XL is ever built.”

I do not *need* the vehicle, but would benefit from the hybrid’s MPG. Plus, I obviously *want* it, as we all do.

I guess I’m now running risk/reward on whether the XL will even be built.

Any/all opinions requested.

Keep the 22. Risk of not getting the 23 is real. If you do get scheduled you can decide at that time whether a trade makes sense.

Yep, there is no guarantee you will get a 23 at all. Better to take the bird in the hand and deal with the rest later. BTW, I am in the exact same position and am definitely taking my eco xlt. I too would love to have the xl hybrid I ordered on the first day and was confirmed that night. I think the odds of getting it are 50% at best. I've already waited 8 months and probably 2 more before I get it. If Ford never made the hybrids I think most of us would be very happy to get the eco at such a good price.

I would think if your 22 order is scheduled to be built you will not have a private offer rebate on a 23 order?

Holy heck, please keep your '22, especially for those of us whose orders were rolled to '23. But more so for yourself! You have a guaranteed vehicle coming vs hedging your bets and holding out for the cheaper '23 that may not get built.

I'm in the same boat except that mine are Ecoboosts. Well, almost the same boat, my 2023 is a Tremor so it is actually more expensive than the 2022 I have in production. I'm going to take the 2022 and hope it makes sense to trade it on the 2023 when (if) it arrives.

Good to hear someone is in the same position. I just can’t believe they wouldn’t build the rollover order…?

If they’re not prioritizing those of us who are ‘22 rollovers, what the heck are they building? I mean, who/what are prioritized over our ‘22 orders?

If your original 2022 order is being built why would you expect Ford to give you a rebate on a 2023 order?

I have 2 orders actively. The first is the Lariat, and it’s being built. I have another order from a separate dealer, and that one was rolled over to a ‘23.

The cool thing about the Maverick is the difference between the base trim and the most expensive isn't actually that much, especially if you're going with the hybrid. I say keep the Lariat.

That‘s fair. I mean, it’s probably approaching $10k difference, but we all know that‘s smaller than other brands/trim levels. Still, $10k is nothing to sneeze at.

Still, Fair point.

I do think they will, if the dealer gives it the lowest priority number. That's a big if. Secondly if the order has too many constraints, it might get passed over for a new 23 order that has none. Then there is also dealer allotments, and nobody is quite sure what's happening there.
