Been thinking about the new bill and really would like a Plug-in Maverick, which at this point ordering is a year or two away. Told my wife would like to trade the Maverick, scheduled but not built in 2-4 years for a plug-in. She was not pleased at all.

Do people know the specifics of the bill and if a Plug-in Hybrid would qualify for the $7,500 rebate or credit.

The dealer said would take my x-plan month after ordering, then said we'd have to talk about it with the owner since did not have an x-plan number when ordering. This was last month when notified them about my VIN. So compromised and should not have, but said as long as they do the $100 doc fee, know you don't have a lot of vehicles and want to be fair. Then found out some walked in and bought a turned down order for MRSP. See a few more popping up on the site so name match may become an issue.

Well, if they can renegotiate after the fact figured I can as well. Unless they will do better and give me the x-plan thinking of the unheard of, walking away from my order with a Sept 12 build day so a 10/10 roughly delivery date.

So like to hear your opinions and do have a military coupon code, which think will fail since was hurt and could not extend my service many decades ago. Perhaps if they could make the coupon code work is a fall back when they remind me that made a $500 deposit, which probably is non refundable.

Plug-ins do not, and assume, will not qualify for the full $7500 tax incentive. Plus, as written, no car in production today will qualify for the incentive due to constraints of material from China, as well as limits on sale price. Also, I believe the current tax incentive ends the moment the bill is signed into law, followed by the new rebates being for vehicles sold after Dec. 31 this year.

This is Congress so of course they write bills that rarely work as expected.

The X-plan discount is nice to have, but not really that large a discount. I think it saved me less than $500 on a XLT. Basically just enough to justify upgrading to Cyber Orange paint. Plus I’m not certain if the PIN you generate is only good for that calendar year or not.

Consult your tax specialist as well. Any government credit for EVs isn’t like a rebate off the car purchase price.
Just make sure your tax situation will qualify and help you (assuming you purchase a car that qualifies).

Qualify for 2 x-plan pins every year. For a loaded Lariat it is closer to $800. The point is as much as I want the truck, want the PHEV with the better lasting new lithium iron phosphate, or LFP batteries in 2025. MY23 will be here before receiving the truck.

Just pushing back the decision on the dealer as if they take the x-plan, know will be ordering another new truck in 3-5 years.

That was true before, however, based on what I’ve read, once the bill passes and is signed, the new incentive will be an actual rebate deducted at the time of purchase.

did some digging on the bill. https://www.washingtonpost.com/climate-solutions/2022/08/10/electric-vehicle-ev-ira-credit-bill/

For new electric vehicles, a $7,500 tax credit could be applied at the point of sale. Those who purchase used EVs could be eligible for up to a $4,000 credit.

But nothing if PHEV qualify, but think they would. Found the old bill.

A tax credit is available for the purchase of a new qualified PEV that draws propulsion using a traction battery that has at least five kilowatt-hours (kWh) of capacity, uses an external source of energy to recharge the battery, has a gross vehicle weight rating of up to 14,000 pounds, and meets specified emission standards. The minimum credit amount is $2,500, and the credit may be up to $7,500, based on each vehicle's traction battery capacity and the gross vehicle weight rating. The credit will begin to be phased out for each manufacturer in the second quarter following the calendar quarter in which a minimum of 200,000 qualified PEVs have been sold by that manufacturer for use in the United States. This tax credit applies to vehicles acquired after December 31, 2009. For more information, including qualifying vehicles and sales by manufacturer, see the Internal Revenue Service (IRS

If I remember correctly, the batteries have to be made in the United States, which none are as of this time. Cars can’t be more than $55,000 and trucks, vans and SUVs can be over $80,000.

that would be much better then. If only they wouldn’t make bills so complicated. Lawyers and Con artists through the years are probably to blame.

Under the current law the Escape Plug in Hybrid qualifies for about $6800 or the $7500 tax credit. I don't know how the new bill, if it becomes a law, will treat plug in hybrids currently in production or theoretical plug in hybrid vehicles that may be produced at some point in the future.

Add in lobbyists and that is exactly who writes these bills. The congress critters don't even read them before they vote (in many cases), they rarely write them.
